I keep telling my clients we dont accept pagemaker, but they refuse to listen and keep sending. I know I can open it in InDesign, but how do you get the tracking and leading to convert properly?

I still have customers with Ragemaker, both Mac and PC. Best thing is learn to work with it. Create a postscript file and the make a pdf. Customers are important and once ya lose em, they're gone.

There is no cut and dried method to keeping a Ragemaker file exactly the same as the original once it's opened in Indy. It can be sometimes dangerous. I keep a G3 with OS9 just for older files, Quark 4 & 5,Freehand 5 also.

You can open Pagemaker files in InDesign - however it will give you a warning and more often than not changes the leading especially when styles have been used.

I figured that. Im using PM 7 on my PC and it keeps crashing almost instantly whenever I try to work with it. So i uninstalled it and downloaded a 30 day trial of it, and that crashes to.

teach me to read things properly - sorry its a busy day here - 5 jobs to get out, 2 tomorrow, 2 on monday and 1 wednesday!!

I haven't found a way of keeping them the same but if the documents are similar and use the same paragraph styles then I would quickly reformat them, or if you have a base document set reloading them from a previously format InDesign document should reset them

The best way I found of transfering PMD files is to change the .pmd file to .indd in windows explorer, double click to open it in InDesign, save it and then work on it.

Something is bugging Pagemaker. Reload the original 7 and before doing that clean up your fonts. Shut down all those that are not being used.
