Hi,

Flash isnt evil.

I found your site to be quite slow to load and get to the point. For me i would just ditch the carpet animation and the large wedding photo. Instead i would just go straight into the site.
I like the layout and colours although the colours are a bit dark and difficult to see uless i turn off my lights. Maybe give the navigation a bit of animation on rollover as well.
Overall nice stuff but i just got a bit bored waiting for the pages/gallery pics to load.

I said that just in case the CSS purists point their fingers at me... I use whatever practical within constrains

I agree with you on the intro part, client's wish, voiced my opinion but he likes it anyways

the designated server is intended for fast loading within greater China region, I'm not surprised if you found it slow.

thanks for the comments :)

Flash isn't evil - it's a question of the best technology to solve the problem.

For example - why is this in flash - what does it add? The site would load much faster as HTML / CSS site

It takes an age to load up. There's a lot of flash for flash sake here. At least there needs to be a skip intro.

A lot of photography sites utilise flash but this site seems to replicate a standard HTML file in flash - don't see the point myself. How do I bookmark the gallery? what if I don't have flash installed? (I do on this machine as i use it for testing but not on my other 2 computers), how will Google find the content?

The site is WAY too slow. If I was a prospective client I would have clicked off by now.

Other than that the site looks fine - you might want to add a title

Putting my purists beliefs aside I think you either need to up your fps or increase your interval. Your transparency effects are on to low of an interval along with many other things. I can see each interval when really it should be more of a smooth transition.

I like the design of the website, but ultimatly agree with chris_bcn.

I agree with most of the already mentioned critcisms. I enjoy the design but it takes FAR too long to load. I had 10 seconds of a white screen, then 15-20 more seconds with the loading animation and I have a very fast connection.

thanks all, I can live with the loading issue for now
coz as long as the audience in China & Hong Kong loads it well he's ok
and so far the local testings are fine

I cant do anything about the intro (client insists on staying everything as they are)
but I can cut down the gallery loading by loading certain amount of images at a time

and answering the css vs flash question

I'm still picking up CSS, and I've seen too many CSS nightmares so I wont risk it on this job. Also the gallery is XML driven, easy update for the client, he updates the xml list + uploads the images and he's fine, whereas in html he will have to dig through all the html code and save as a copy everytime, not to mention he might ruin some div by mistake.

Slow to load is an understatement.
