we are a Chinese pharmaceutical company called Simcere (Pharma), as you may see name orginates from Sincere.
I posted five logos and Logo A is our current logo with a green flag and it chinese name. The logo has been used for 12 years.
We want to develop a logo 100% in English. However we hope, though not necessarily, leave the flag in new logo.
Finally we come out 4 options. Can I have your opinion, which is better at the point of western style or have any better idea?
LogoA B C D E are listed afterwards
Thanks a lot for your opinion.

I think I would choose logo B. Since it is the same company, and the flag is so distinctive, I see no reason to lose it. A couple of the others remind me of Microsoft, so let's not go down that road.

I would go for design B as well. The other designs remind me of Windows (MS) and water (E).

E is actually better balanced. But I'd hate to be the guy to have to put that wave-form on your building in illuminated can-letters. LOL!

I think that B is the most appropiate. I like D too.

I like B also. It's similar to the old one, so people who have a history with your company won't lose you. And it's cleaned up. It's good.

I like the original flag design too. It is distinctive and has personality. The other logos developed were too simple I think. They lack character.
"B" though it doesn't seem quite "there" yet. The flag icon is too good to toss, but the simpified versions come off too generic for my taste.

I think your going somewhere with d.
All the rest seem to lack a communication besides for a flag… which has nothing to with pharmisuticals.
Have you thought about turning d into a pharmisutical bottle in addition to the flag? When I look at it I see both a corralation to a flag and also a unintended relationship to a pill bottle or something of that genre. Perhaps if you were to push that concept you could arrive at a solution that not only contains a flag but, begins to communicate something more then location about your compny as well.
As far as the flag goes… personally, I find it is terrible concept to drive your design. It seems like all these designs are dirven by one thing- thta flag idea. maybe get more conceptual with it and truly ask yourself what a flag represents and how you could re-represent these things in a non-literal manor that could also begin to communicate something about pharmisuticals.
Currently, I agree with budafist the origional is the most sucessfull.
*edit*
Since, you like the flag idea have you thought about using the stars on the chinease flag in combination with shape you have for a 'flag' to somehow further reinforce your heritage? Then have those stars also create a correlation to a pill so it looks as if the flag is a bottle also and the stars are pills within that bottle. just an idea…

Design C feels the most sincere.

B. I like the icon, don't like the text though. Maybe try with a different font.

I like B too, and such as Six suggests the others are quite simple and not as striking.
I would also tweak the flag slightly, maybe looking at mirroring elements or something. To me I just saw the Windows flag logo. I think it's the whole shape that gets me.
Just my two cents. :)

based on your opinion a Logo F is developped.

"F" has my vote! Frankly, even though I preferred it over the others, "B had some tension in it - flag going left with ital name going right - that bothered me, though others may have liked that interest. This one takes that tension out and makes the logo harmonize for me, being an old fart set in his ways. :D

The italic of the new logo is a bit hard to read. Have you stretched it?
I prefer the Type in E, and the Logomark in F. Can you join those two elements?
zhangjian

E is good, however, when used in small, the green lines will not be
clear enough. It is good for large usage such on the building wall.
do you think so?
budafist

Yes. Don't use the lines in E. Just use the type and use the picture in F.
Exactly... Those lines are very generic, and is an unmeaningful design. The logomark on F is good though. I just thought the text used in E would go a lot better with that logomark.

"B" jumps out at me too.
Would like to see a more solid font with "B".

F it is
I vote for F.
Just for reference sake but, is it suppose to represent an 'abstract' super hero? It reminds me of someone with a cape such as super hero or something.

This could be the most uneventful critique ever. We know nothing about the mission statement of the company and going purely on the look of the thing. Visually speaking, each logo has great and bad elements. Instead of presenting so many options, you should stick with 2 and develop them more. As far as I'm concerned you have 3 unique logos with several alternative versions being presented as totally new. Let's break it down and get into the meat of the dilemma.
You need to share the information about the company. Is it their mission to tell customers about the healthy, active side of their drugs? Is it their mission to present a clean corporate look? What's the purpose of this logo? Honestly, all of the logos can be tweaked into infinity but without a purpose the tweaks have no meaning. Creativing a visually balanced logo does not make an effective logo.
I'm sorry to get on everyone's case, but this becoming the exact thing we all complain about. Bosses that criquite without reason. The best critiques are done with purpose. These logos vary so much, I don't even consider these variations on a theme. Its as if there is a new mission statement for each one. I'm not going to give any advice until we understand the purpose of these logos. As far as I'm concerned, they all visually meet generic expectations, but I suspect a client wants something specific.

Thank you SurfParK.
It is a local Chinese pharmaceutical Company. The company initiatied its business since 1995. The company develops relatively fast in China in recent years and its sales is
over 100 million RMB, ie, more than 13 million USD, a middle sized company.
The original logo of the company, logo A, consists of the flag icon and Simcere. Original explanations of the logo are: green color represents life and health; the running people reprensents the sprit of leading, running, deligent; Simcere, transitioned from simcere, means the company want to be sincere to life, to customer, to employee; most important is the pronuncition of Simcer is similar to its Chinese name, also means leading.
As you may guess the company performas quite well in China and attract investment from Lenovol (who buyed IBM). At the cross road of development the company want to a little more internaitonal as it grows. The company owns the first novel anti-cancer drug called Endostar, a kind of Endostatin. Endostatin was found by Dr Judah Folkman of Boston Children Hospital. The commerce of the drug failed in USA in 2004.
For the purpose of communicate internationally the company want to take a more western style logo.
That is whole story.
For more infomation of the company please go to www.simcere.com (http://www.simcere.com)

The font in logo F is really too skewed. Font of logo G is solid and may be better.
