Ok so I'm new to these forums and I would like some critism on a blog template I made.

Background Info: I'm no professional, I'm only 17 and have only being "designing" for maybe 2 years now. I have made other templates for friends and what not, but nothing huge. The blog template is for my blog that is part of a little design thing me and my best friend made up called endlis. The template was made to show what I can do really and that I wanted a blog. I haven't really worked on a banner yet so all I did was add some text. So please tell me what you think.

hi lampshade,

I like the colors, though I do find that particular font hard to read.

Type needs some work. I think it is too wide at the moment. You might want to save some space vertically - I hate having to scroll across when I visit a webpage. I don't mind scrolling up and down, but across bugs me.

Some of the type like the time and "By Dewanye" will be actual text and not created on your template, so no worries about the small print.

General feel is good. Clean, simple, colours work well with each other. Just wondering if you intend for the main text to be white on the dark blue background? That might prove hard to read.

P.S. I love how you tidied up all your pallettes for the screenshot :D You don't really work with your pallettes like that do you??

How do you intend to display text and pictures in the entries?

Budafist: I've got it even cleaner than that. 4 palettes in the palettes dock, and that's it. (A)

My palettes are Messy McMessy. *sigh*

I don't mind the font, modern and interesting actually. I don't think once it's in practice you'll have a left-right scroll budafist. Unless you have a small monitor in which case, pfftt. ;)

I really like the color scheme Lampshade and it has a nice clean look about it. :)

I don't like the post title on Previous Entries. It's hard to read.

Thanks for the great replies guys. I did end up changing the fonts for 2 reasons, one it is hard to read and two I don't know how to install fonts on servers.
You can see a semi working version at endlis.x10hosting.com it still needs work and has only been tested in Safari so far.

Oh and no I don't use PS with the palettes like that.

I don't quite understand what your trying to say.

Something looks terribly wrong in FF and IE. As for text replacement, it's pretty easy http://www.alistapart.com/articles/dynatext/

Name one website that doesn't have bullshit on the about page.

I think what he was trying to point out was the conflict of interests here. How can he be focused on quality design when he presents himself as "no professional?"

I think that's down to choice of fonts.

Very nice. Very tidy.:)

The shadow flying teals are a nice element. I would have them flying in an arch over the "endlis" rather than overlapping as you have them. As it is the fullstop looks strangly like an eye on one of the teals.
