I was just wondering if anyone around here has any good ideas about a project I'm going to start working on. Any idea, thought or help would be appreciated, I'm not offically a designer, I just do a little web design on the side.

The project is for a herbalist company that sells tinctures via the internet. They are called Full Circle Herbs, and right now they have a logo that is basically a wreath that sometimes has the company name in it. I'm kind of at a lose as to what exactly to do with it, because it just seems very limited. I was thinking of something like making the wreath more arrow-like, but that seems cliched. Anyway, thanks for any help.

Oh god. Their logo sounds horribly cliche...

How about you start by listing all the qualities that the company associates themselves with. Brainstorm everything you can about the company - client base, products, slogan, location, colours, textures, price. Then sort through that pile and see if there is anything original in there.

Ya it really is...

Anyway I've thought about it for awhile and really the only things I could think that were unique was the fact that they actually travel around collecting herbs and potions from around the world. Another thing is that they have a kind of motto that the history of herbalism as medicine has come 'full circle', where mankind started originally using herbs to cure disease, then evolved to use current medicines, and now have come around to using herbs again to cure disease. I personally don't believe it, but their client base probably does.

Anyway... I like the idea of a globe trotting renagade herbalist slashing trees and finding cures, but how to convay that kind of idea in a simple and catchy logo? I wish I was more creative heh.

Sounds like you need to "officially" commission a designer.;)

See the "Classifides" section.:)

Another reason for commisioning a designer is they will have the correct software to create the logo. You said yourself that you do web design on the side, I may be wrong but that leads me to believe you might not have the best software for the job. Have you got Illustrator or Freehand? If not what are you thinking of using? I would definatley create it an a vector based app not a pixel based one.

also just sticking up for Samakimoto slightly... we are professional designers and get paid for our talent, ability and knowledge so i think the suggestion of posting this in the classifieds section was warranted.

Posting a design you have done for constructive critique and feedback is fine but asking us all to do the conceptual thinking and give you an idea for a logo which you can then go away and make a profit on is a little unfair, and de-values what we do as a profession.

another good reason is they will know what to do or I should say how to begin the process.

Sorry about that I just thought he was being unreasonably facetious! Maybe I overreacted a bit heh.

Anyway I've got a few ideas i'm trying out, I'll post them later and then Samakimoto can rightfully make fun of me :D
