Has anyone heard of ROWE (Results Only Work Environment). It's a new initiative to get companies to start valuing results over face time. Some HR gals at Best Buy here in Minnesota started it a few years ago in a very guerilla tactics type way and now by March of 2007 75% of their employees will be working like this.

basically you do whatever you want, whenever you want, and you are strictly judged on your results. So people can come in late, leave early, work at midnight, work through lunch, work while fly fishing, whatever.

I am going to bring this up to the big cheeses here and if they don't go for it I want to go work for best buy corporate.

Checking out the site now, seems pretty interresting. I doubt this will work for all types of personalities though.

ROWE really is working at BBY Corporate. It's the ultimate work/life balance program with unlimited flexibility AS LONG AS THE RESULTS GET DONE. It can absolutely work for ANYONE - all work personalities. The reason it works for everyone is because it gives each person the control to get the work done in whatever fashion works best. As colonel5 pointed out, that could look very different for each person! How it looks does't really matter so much as the work gets done and people are happier.
