Hi Guys,

I’m wondering if any web designers here have hired specialist (for example a flash developer or programmers), or if someone has been hired to do a project?

I would like to know about the pros and cons with hiring someone or being hired. How does the payment process work? I mean do you get a quote from the specialist (based on their charge out rate) before undertaking a job or do you pay them as an employee (a fixed amount)?

Thanks

I would pay them per job. If you pay them as an employee, you'll need to have enough work for them to keep them going.

You pay a specialist like a freelancer just as you would a freelance designer. Or if you hire from an agent, you pay the agency fees. But first: interview, portfolio review and contact their references. Contracts are definitely needed that spell out the job, the fee, the review dates and the final due date as well as any late penalties or kill fees.

As for where to find them in Australia, can't help you there.
