>>Hi, I am not a stupid person so I guess my questions will not be stupid.<<

I bet you know that this is a stupid assumption.

And yet, it's also a terrific introductory statement because it engages any reader to think about thinking-- and stupidity. And I love how you've centered right onto a topic that is such a pivotal point of contention here: the questioning mind vs. the fearful ego.

Great start!

Oh... and welcome aboard!

(Did you say you were new?)

You won't learn anything by not asking questions. The most stupid thing to do is to not ask questions.

Welcome by the way. :)

Welcome aboard, the only stupid question in my opinion is when the same quation is asked over and over expecting a different answer.

Is 'what defines a stupid question?' a stupid question?

Repetition? I guess it depends on the nature of the question. Sometimes though, internally, I ask myself the same questions over and over. Does it help? Sometimes.

I've been giving more (stupid?) thought to the whole notion of stupidity. There is of course foolishness, dumbness and any number of expression for this state. But is it the same as ignorance? I believe that wilful ignorance is the ultimate form of stupidity. Think of the great success of the Dummies and Idiot books. There were a lot of people who would have said (no doubt, marketers) that this would never get off the ground because the product's name was too insulting to the readers.

Why wasn't it? Because anyone looking for a good how-to book is wilfully trying to diminish their ignorance, and they instantly connected with the series tongue-in-cheek expression of this drive and how that simple joke provides a quick way around the social
'fear' of venturing into 'unknown' mental territory.

The 'fear' side of stupidity is a very important element to understand, and work with if you're serious about doing great creative. Every time we sit down to draw, to conceptualize, to create-- we have to have the mental strength and discipline to give ourselves the permission to be stupid. We must. All those stupid ideas are absolutely necessary if we are to discover the real brilliance hidden among them. If you're afraid of that process, the fear itself will suck the life out of anything you attempt to force out. Be smart about stupidity, and be prepared to laugh at your seriousness. Otherwise.... what's the point?

Old Hindu saying, "stay hungry, stay foolish". Wise words-- if you think about them long enough. Stupid words, if you... what was I saying?

Thanks for the welcome!

If you're afraid of that process, the fear itself will suck the life out of anything you attempt to force out.

We would have a more advanced society if everyone realized that. We would also have funnier vids on youTube. :D

*Karibu* Clever!

As we say here in East Africa :

**Ku uliza si ujinga, ku uliza uliza ni ujinga.** - To ask is not foolish, to ask the same question again and again, however, is foolish.
