I was just talking to one of the salsesguys at work and we were talking about whether we liked our jobs or not. he said, "eh, its a job. You're not supposed to like it, you just do it."

I lived by that in high school and college but i think you should like what you do. Thats why we go to school and choose a career. If you dont like your job find one you do like.

I guess what im saying is... although the print industry can be a ***** this time of year (and most of the rest of it) and CSS and those damn <div> tags that wont friggin align can make you crazy and working in-house will no doubtedly lead you to drink... how many of you actually like your job?

My grandfather always said you can't be happy in life unless you love what you do. The trick to the whole thing is sacrifice. Do you choose a high paying career that you might hate, like working in a high stress environment like an ER, or do you take another career route that you will enjoy but won't get paid much.

I am actually happy with where I am at in my career, I am very pleased to have a tangible magazine out in thousands of peoples hands every month with my name in it. That right there is more satisfying then any paycheck, and its tangible and last a long time. Something alot of us graphic designers don't get is stuff that lasts. Im sure when im 80 ill have a trunk full of magazines and ill be telling my grandchildren about Photoshop 2.0!

I've always liked what I do - It's who I'm doing it for that has sometimes sucked.
Right now that who is me, so I better not be complaining :D

I absolutly agree. I enjoy what I do... but the people I work for are a bunch of pancakers.

I really like my job. The print industry is pretty fun where I work and I get to
call my own shots for the most part. It drives me to drink most days, but that
happens to be something else I enjoy.

I really like my job. I love the career that I'm in. It incredibly frustrating at times, and it drives me mad, and moan a lot - but ultimately I do something I might possibly have done as a kind of hobby, and I get pretty welll paid for it.

THe place where I work was one of those "dream companies" for me. I never expected I could get a job here - so that helps!

I love to design. I will be outgrowing this current job soon and I am sick of being the only designer among non-creatives, Other than that, I love this career and feel like its unbelievable that this what I will be doing for the rest of my life.

I love my job, and my career. I do get burned out every now and then, but that has been true of all my careers (all 6 or 7 of them, not including 'jobs').

I have never allowed myself a career that I did not enjoy, and my tastes have varied and changed drastically over my lifespan. I have been a mechanic, an arborist, a radio personality, a motorcycle instructor, and a designer. When I find that there's not enough money left in doing what I love, I teach others how to do it.

I love where I am too...

Like I said, in this part of the woods I am one lucky duck.

I really like what I do. Could I be making more money? Sure. But I make enough for right now and I'm content.

I've been liking it slightly better than before. Since I've been off support calls I will say I've been a bit happier.
