I can't believe James Brown died this morning. :(

His tremendous influence on so many aspects of the music of our popular culture will never be forgotten.

I can't help thinking that his passing adds to the loss of musical geniuses the world over, what with all the unoriginal covers being done today...

I couldn't agree with you more Sama about the loss of a musical genius. He was the center not only of a musical revolution, but in many ways, a social one. He didn't come by his name as the Godfather of Soul for nothing. So many were influenced by him, from the Rolling Stones to David Bowie. Amazing musical talent, very hard life, but a presence, who will be missed.

yeah, it struck me this morning when i heard about this that the world is losing al of its great creative musical innovators. What happens when they're all gone?

Thank God we still have Fergie, and lucky for us she will probably be around for a long time. As she says "I be up in the gym just working on my fitness" She's Fergilicious!

I couldn't believe it either when I heard that. Heck, now listening to that electronic song "James Brown is Dead" just won't be the same.

I wasn't that good at it either - I found that if you fly higher it makes it easier to convert the heathens.

I agree MD. Actually the Black Eyed Peas are the best thing since Earth Wind and Fire in my book...Them and Gnarls Barkley and Outcast. I absoluitely love Gnarls' soulful voice. The radio stations over here often group him with in the rock music slots  .

I was being a bit sarcastic Sama. While I will agree that the black eyed peas have a very catchy sound ... Fergie is responsible for lyrically 3 of the worst songs in the last 20 years.

And mix your milk wit my cocoa puff,
Milky, milky cocoa puff,
Mix your milk with my cocoa puff, milky, milky riiiiiiight.

What you gon' do wit all that breast?
All that breast inside that shirt?
I'ma make, make, make, make you work
Make you work, work, make you work.
I'm Fergalicious (so delicious)
My body stay vicious
I be up in the gym just working on my fitness
He's my witness (oooh wee)
I put yo' boy on rock rock
And he be lining down the block just to watch what I got (four, tres, two, uno)
I’m Fergie Ferg, and me love you long time

And I’m like get up out my face, (oh shit)
'fore I turn around and spray your ass with mace. (oh shit)
My lips make you wanna have a taste. (oh shit)
You got that?

They only seem inane on the surface, MD. Allow me to explain.

The first passage utilizes a syllabic structure of 9/7/13, while the second passage is 8/7/8/7 - or more appropriately 15/15. These complex numeric underpinnings are based on prime numbers, which serve no purpose other than pure aesthetics, and factors of 3 - a reference to the holy trinity. Coincidence, or genius on a level beyond our comprehension? I choose the latter - especially when you consider that transposing the numerical syllabic structure into graphical form results in the "Fergiesian Curve" - a delicious curve indeed! (See the attached graph - where one's intestinal capicity for cocoa puffs is represented by the x-axis, and variable melanin levels of the nipple is represented in the y-axis).

Yes, I believe we can all take comfort in this tragic time of loss by nestling our thoughts within the cool mathematical logic of the Fergiesian Curve.

Nice LBA, but I think that Fergiesian Curve, needs the spectrum (color) theory applied.

The curvature analysis is perfect, as is the symmetry.
