Hey, can anyone help me out here... I'm designing a banner [in Illustrator] in a pseudo kind of retro SuperHeroes sort of style, and I want to apply a halftone effect to the background - I know exactly how I want it to look - green graduating to yellow, with the halftone circles clearly visible. I know how to create halftone effects in PhotoShop, but, for various reasons, I need to create this effect as vector artwork in Illustrator [10/CS]... Can anyone help?! I've often wondered if there was an easy way to do this in Illustrator - there must be surely - and now I really need to find out how!!

Many good wishes in advance · TeeKay

I'm not sure, but I think you can do it by using Blend between, say, a large green circle and a small yellow circle. This will create one row which you can then make multiple copies of.

This thread had a way to get the round dots using Flash.

Sometimes you can use Filter>Pixelate>Color halftone. Sometimes.

PD that last line reminds me of the one from alien (or aliens, I can't remember which. the one with the little girl and bill paxton).

Mostly they come out at night. Mostly.

Cheers for the tips guys! I tried Ylaenna's way, it came out exactly how I wanted it to... However, due to my client being a bit of a git, the job has now been canned. What a jib!!!! I was doing a good job an all - and enjoying it. Oh well!

Cheers again :)

Hmmm... I been thinking bout this now.

Although I did what I needed on the job, it's still a pretty inflexible way of achieving the effect - as is the Flash method. Surely some enterprising young someone out there may have created an Illustrator filter for this..? Anyone know any decent sources for filters? Or is that a daft question...

Good luck with that... I've noticed there are a million resources out there for photoshop, but if you want to find something for Illustrater...... Few and far between!?!

His other plug-ins are great. I use his Select Menu all the time. And the Freebies are useful too. And a couple other ones on there.
