This was a colaborative project because my coworker doesn't know how to illustrate from scratch.

http://www.magnumgraphix.com/images/design_logo/zbag_logo_final.jpg

So I illustrated the gear so it's fully vector - from a photo reference supplied by the client. The Coworker took care of the text and photoshop effect. I like it, but... I think it could use some depth and less hard black on the bevel.

The customer loves it. Signed off on it, and we are contracted for full gamut. yay!

So what do you think? I haven't done many logos and would like your opinions.

=)

i dont like the insane bevel. Nice illustration, those repetitive things can be a pain

yes, click - paste- rotate - repeat.

---Get to the end and find you are at an odd space left. Took more time "tweeking" then actually doing the original vector spin.

I really should do a 3color mapped of the 165 layers the illustration has :p

Overall, I like it. I am a little concerned about the loss of detail at small scales though. That, and the acronym for the company ("ZBAG"), which is so prominently displayed, sounds like a put down. "Yea, well your a ZBAG!"

I just don't like the shade of blue, and the amount of bevel, and the small black stroke. Otherwise, I dig it!

I'm not really digging the bevel, it seems too extreme. I'm also not crazy about how parts of the gear show through only two parts of the ZBAG, but not the rest of the counters on the type. I think either go one way or the other, but not both.

I think you should lose the little bits next the the Z, in the A, and around the B and G. Keep the field white.
So the bevel was done in Photoshop? At what resolution? Is there a flat version? And a black and white version (not grayscale)? That's either a very expensive sign, or a cheap print on vinyl stuck to a board.
:)

I like your illy of the gear, but not so fond of your coworkers "zbag". I don't think the bevel is working or the zbag idea either...it makes me think of things like cheesebag, dirtbag, nut bag...maybe this is just my bad bag thinking?? why didn't they let you do the whole logo? your illy was obviously a good start for this logo....

The zbag is 30" x something - don't have the original to check at the moment. There is a vector version if need to up the res on it. Photoshop bevel - not that hard to reproduce at size.

We have a 54" Roland printer.... looking to upgrade/addon to sometime this summer. So yep, laminated vinyl on board.

The greyscale gear is ok if b&w. As there's only three greys to the whole thing. But he doesn't do a whole lot of b&w. He doesn't need to place "ads" in the traditional sense. The biggest issue was actually in color seperation for embroidered shirts. So I may end up re-illustrating a simpler version for that.

zbag is the initials and something that he's been usign for quite sometime.

My doing the whole logo was not an option. I only illustrated because I'm the only one there who can. Hopefully I'll be able to work on others, unfortunately I keep getting pushed in tothe "website girl" category when I'm way more than that.

For print. And as long as you do it.

That's the way everyone thinks these days.

Sorry. 3D guy muttering out loud.

It would be different if the business was walk in - but this one is national mfg and distributor very few will go to the actuall business.

For another client we are doing a custom shaped lighted sign... eh we do everything here as given the need, cnc to custom lighted to custom welded brackets.

make that 8 webbies - one more this morning, of which just landed their whole marketing campain. ;) I talk good. heh.
