3 Questions:

Hello, I'm new here. I am just starting out and I have 3 questions for all you experienced designers:

1. I heard Macs are better than PCs. Is this true and why?

2. What programs do I need to start learning how make nifty designs such as those found in many of your sigs?

3. I think this forum needs a redesign. No offense, but you call yourselves graphic designers?



P.S. What's the fascination with Boobie Island?

1. been covered oooooooh roughly 100+ times, do a search on the site if you really want to know.

2. photoshop, illustrator, quark and or indesign, all the other progies like freehand, corel, etc....are for you to learn when your ready.

3. again, been covered quite a bit, this site is meant for function, not for glamour, we deal with blingin graphics all day long, the last thing I want is to come here and get overwhelmed visually.....understand? probably not.....you will some day.

1. No. It's personal choice.

2. Photoshop and Illustrator/Freehand and many more if you like.

3. Go ahead, re-design it and show us. Keep in mind that it must work. I think it's fine myself, simple=good.

1. *yawn* it's whatever floats your boat - both get the job done.
2. what d-frag said. it's good to start with pencil and paper, too. if you're not creative to start with, the software won't help you.
3. what woodwardo said. besides, it's not like you're paying a user fee. you've got free information, the INVALUABLE resource of input and opinions from a plethora of WORKING designers from all over the world...hell, there's probably a few hundred years of combined working experience here...for FREE...'call yourselves designers', eh? would uber designers sound better? allen? *sorry* UBER allen?
