First let me say thanks. this board has taught me so much. and has been so helfpul. so here is my question

i had a pic of a mirror. i took the reflection off the mirror...it was reflecting things in the background. so now where the mirror is it is white. i then cut the white and put it in a new layer. now i need to take it to the next step. i want to fill it with a color. i highlighted the layer in the layer toolbar and selected fill. it filled the whole pic though...not just the layer. after i figure out how to fill it...i want to turn it so it looks like a mirror again...a little reflection. i have mostly worked in ai so i am not sure how to do this. could someone give me some advice. i am going to use the pic as a background in a website and place a salons services and prices over it.

i have attached a jpeg of the mirror. so you can see what i am working with.

thanks a bunch.caleb

hold the ctrl key (or command key on a mac) and click on the layer in the layer palette, it should put marching ants around the layer, then you can fill it with a color.

p.s. no jpg came up

Shift Option Delete on a Mac (not sure what the PC equivalent would be, maybe Shift Alt Delete?) will apply a fill but preserve the transparency.
