Hi everyone,

I am designing a website for an education and training company, and was wondering if anyone could point me to a free graphics site. Things like little cartoon gif images would be ideal. By free, I mean absolutely free to use, no fee to pay to use them. Failing totally free, if anyone can recommend a cheap site to me, then please do.

Many thanks

I don't know of any, but here's a question. Do you really want to rely on clip-art looking stuff for this site? Because that's probably what you'll end up with. It seems like if it's for a full-fledged company, they should shell out some money for actual graphics, rather than stuff you can find for free. Maybe hire an illustrator, or something.

Then again, you don't mention how the graphic will be used within the site, so I could be off base. But generally, you get what you pay for, at least with this type of thing.

While much of clipart is free, it normally looks cheap and nasty. You do get what you pay for.

For a website, I think would be better to use photography. Here's (http://www.morguefile.com/) a free photography site to get you going.

See, this is the reason I hate being called a "graphic designer." People hear the word "graphic" and think I make clip art for a living.

"Do you have any graphics you've made so I can use them in this flyer?"

Ick.

I certainly don't think of clipart as being graphic design. It's more lowbrow...

I had the title Mac Operator. Which I've changed now. My uncle thought I made burgers...Lucky, my boss lets me call myself whatever I want. I haven't abused this power...yet. :D

I've struggled with what to call myself for years. My official title is "Graphics Specialist." Of course, that's the title given to me by the HR people who don't know anything about anything.

I've thought about calling myself a "Communications Specialist" but in a school district that refers to a person who works on writing and public relations, not necessarily design. Then I've thought of "Visual Communications Specialist" (notice how it gets longer and longer), but that makes me think of Sign Language.

Anyways... I defer to http://www.beyondgraphic.org
