I've spent the weekend doing homework for graduation. Portfolio class means I have to write a 5-year plan, artist statement and resume with cover letter.
Well, the 5-year plan has me a little stumped. I filled in this year and part of the next and I know where I want to be in 5 years. It's the in-between that has the fuzzy details.
But it's my resume that has me totally depressed. After years of office work, I'm trying to switch to graphics and my freelance work doesn't sound like much. I'm doing a functional rather than chronological format which I hope helps a little so I can emphasize what I've done rather than what I haven't.
I know I'm inexperienced but where do I get the experience other than pound the pavement and apply, apply, apply?
Especially here in this black hole of creativity....although every business needs SOME sort of graphics department, don't they?
