Hi... I've noticed a couple of things when working in InDesign, maybe someone can help...

a) I've got colors in my palette that I no longer want, which don't appear to be in use, the program says they're not being used, yet I can't delete them....

b) Solved text wrap issue. Disregard.

Do I need a vacation, or has anyone else noticed this, and if so, what to do?

Are the colors being used in placed eps files?

That would be my thought, too... if the colour can't be deleted, then it is being used somewhere, somehow in the document. Check to make sure none of your placed files are using spot colours, change them if they are and then try deleting the "unused" colours again.

One way to check quickly would be to look at your separations preview.

I've come across this issue before as well. There are a few unconventional methods to accomplish what should be a very simple task. Check out this link. (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=330768) I haven't tried these before, but seem to think they will work as they are on Adobe's site.

I've been successful with a different way, but need to revisit it before I try to explain the process. So, if you are unsuccessful with the suggestions at the link, I'll be happy to provide instructions on the method I used. (It's no simpler. Still drawn out and unnecessary.)

Good luck.

I agree. It's ridiculous that this seemingly simple task requires so much work around to solve. And it's been that way since ID version 1? C'mon Adobe... what's the big deal with this one?

I didn't check that link, but the one that I found that works fairly reliably was this from the Adobe user forums:

1. Create a new document.

2. In that document, create a process color but give it the same name as your spot color that you want to remove from the reluctant document.

3. Make a book consisting only of the two documents.

4. Use synchronization, choosing colors only

5. Synchronize the colors.

6. Now you should be able to delete the color in the previously reluctant document.

Yes, that's the method I have used. It works.
Glad you got it figured out.

Thanks, all... I'll give your suggestions a try. What an irritating little glitch!
