...to getting a new job! wOOt! I've been e-mailing my resume like crazy! I had a message on my answering machine today from one of the places wanting me to set up an interview. I do not know if this is where I'm suppose to be... but it is one step closer to getting out of the belly of the beast. This makes my second response from a potential employer. The first one had fears that I would be out of their price range from the start. They were correct. I thought about sending them a video of me laughing when they told me the pay via e-mail. The place that called today is a HUGE mother of a corporation.

This place is farther away than where I work now and in the other direction. It would be in GA and over double the commute distance. I would put up with the commute if the company is as good as what I have heard. Most of it would be interstate anyway.
Thanks for the well wishes everybody! :)

I'm kind of curious, how much creative leeway does Satan give you? Is he really picky, or do you just get to do what you want in your designs?
Anyways, I'm glad for your good news, Exodus. Best of luck in acquiring the job.
Of course Satan is a picky Art Director... He just can't cope if there isn't at least three or four starbursts. And you only get to use one font.... You know which one. And you have to do it all in MS publisher.

Fourth. I believe that is the one the greedy misers are located... and I don't know of many people tighter with their money than the owners of my present employer.
Owner/CSRs to customer: "Yes we can get those 350 10' 5" x 20' 8" posters out by tomorrow!"
To me: "That job is approved Ex. Put it on the server for prepress."
To prepress and printers: "I know you guys are already over booked by around 120 hours of print time and all... but you better make it happen or your all fired!"
Then we all bend over and take it... and somehow it gets done. We then go home walking with a limp and can't sit down. I find getting in the fetal position and wimpering helps. Lashing out in anger only makes it worse.

ah yes, when I came in I saw that the collateral needed new life, and my boss enabled me to bring this life into it. This brought in a far better response (read: sales) than expected. Would they give their art dept a nice hurrah and maybe a little compensation (IE MARKET RATE), nah...just a 'good job'
I lol, then I cry...then i lol again...then the student loan bill comes, and I cry

Yay, that's massive, mate.
I'm right there with you; being in-house is less than fun. Hogan's Heroes comes to mind.
Well, then, best of luck. We're all rooting for you. Make us jealous, won't you?
cheers.
Well Ex, you had your appointment and we are all waiting to hear - did you get the hell outta here?
I hope all went well and you can tell us great stories of how wonderful it can be...seems like we all have the same "bend-over" positions. Keep pluggin away and don't ever give up!
Wish you the best!

Well, I had my interview this morning! It went very smooth! I feel that it is very promising... The company is growing like crazy and is currently looking into branching out in the things that my current employer specializes in. I was already asked what it would take for me to come on board with them. I was told that they would be conducting interviews the rest of this week and next week... then they will look into where they want to place people. I'm just trying not to get too hopeful! :o

Hell isn't so bad. At least there its lawful evil - they do have rules. It could be the 666th layer of the Abyss - totally chaotic evil. I think that's where I'm at.

Chaotic evil, in Wisconsin? I worked in their NY office. :D
My guess is it migrated north from Illinois. A whole city full of people must have recently sold their souls to the devil. That is the only way I can explain the Bears going to the superbowl with a quarterback as terrible as Rex Grossman.
