Hello again everyone!
I just started my graphic design program this month.
We need to do a presentation on a well known type designer.
I know there are many type designers in History, but I want to learn about some one who is on the leading edge right now...
any ideas?
they are much appreciated.

Haha - now, now Morea, don't scare the kids off typography :D
What about Ray Larabie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Larabie) or Zuzano Licko (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuzana_Licko)? While they may not be as, um, *exciting* as Gill, they are more modern.

I think Eric Gill might get someone expelled from design school :D
How about a woman?

Being the font geek I am, I was once handed job for a Gentleman's Only club. Rich old bastards that ban women from their exclusive gatherings. Even as cleaners and waiters etc. So I designed their pieces all with fonts designed by women...ha!

Buda, that's kind of like the time back in the day when I worked on a campaign for IBM's Aptiva computer line....on a Mac. :D

All the catalogues I do for computer companies are done on a mac too. Oh well...

Thanks Virgo, I told the other designer at work at the time, but she's not a font geek (she's a self taught GD) and just didn't appreciate the effort involved. Oh well...
