It's a brochure for estates backing onto a golf course....If you can afford that, you don't need big print. You can pay someone to read it for you! Starting price was $1.6 million!
I wanted to put in a big Starburst but the font took up all the room. The clipart idea is genius tho! could have used that instead of her head shot.

Texas Roadhouse's Onion Blossoms are infinitely superior to the Bloomin' Onion. You can just feel the weight gain with every bite, but it is soooooooooo worth it.
Jerking my chain? Kid Rock, the musician [sic] who butchers older songs like Sweet Home Alabama with his own unique [sic] style.

Oh, buda, that reminds me...this morning at work, I was out having a cigarette and watching two bunnies. They were about 8 feet from me, munching teh grass. Then they started playing...or having foreplay, I couldn't tell...one would charge at the other, and the second one would hop about two feet in the air, over the first. That happened about five times, then someone else showed up and scared them off. :(
It was really fun to watch!! I got some pics of them eating but not playing...I'll post them in the bunnyday thread after I crop them in.

Bunnies interacting with anything (especially each other) is fun to watch.
We normally let Tofu outside in the mornings and then when I go to leave for work I make sure he is inside before I lock up. Well this morning I couldn't find him. It's raining here so I told my fiance who promised to go back home during the day to see if he could find him. My plan was to go home at lunch time if he hadn't been found by then.
When my fiance got home, Tofu was covered in dead leaves and cobwebs, soaking wet, waiting on the lawn to get back inside the house. I suppose he must have had quite an adventure! Bet he found a way into the underside of the new house.
Silly bunny.

I saw a show recently talking about hwo everything in your house should be natural. Wood floors, wood furniture, all natural fibers, organic foods, bee's wax candles, more wooden objects.
The next show was "Use less to destroy trees" type jist. Use metal things, 100% recycled plastics, tile floor, non-fiber packaged food.
Both claimed to be right, and that you MUST IMMEDIATELY do this or else dire things will happen.
So the thing that jerks my chain?

It's one of those annual-fee stock sites, rather than iStock or StockXchng. In order to get another user license, we have to purchase the next "group" user licenses, which is like really expensive. We can't just get one more. Kind of annoying at times, and unfortunately it is the better of the three that we have access to (which ain't saying too much).

I was in a Port Authority ladies' room last year, minding my own business, washing my hands, when a homeless woman near me starts screaming "If you touch me with those hands I'll give you a bloody face!!!" I discreetly peeked around me to see if perhaps there was someone else nearby she could be concerned about, but I was the nearest person to her. "You hear me? You better not touch me!!" I quietly said to her, "Don't worry, I wasn't planning on touching you." "Well, I'm just warning you. I don't play like that! If you touch me you'll get a bloody face!!!" "Ummm... duly noted... ?"

I've been working on a flier for a client and it was almost there. I was pretty happy with it so far. Brightly, coloured, high res photos of happy people, reversed out text on a plain but bright coloured background. It was colourful, but still classy.
Until the client requested for all the prices to be put into starbursts. Gah! They didn't specify what colour so I picked bright tomato red to totally jar and clash with the rest of the design. It looked awful. They loved it.

Hmm. Not sure how chain jerking this is but I spent 9 hours yesterday coding an entire website for a friend. It was one of those emergency need it by tomorrow type of deals.
The coding is horrendous though, it kind of made me cringe after each save. The entire site was designed to be created in flash, however the flash developer overshot his deadline so the website just needed to be a sort of quick and dirty job to at least get the content up until it can be replaced with the flash site.
It's pretty much all chopped up jpegs laid out in image tables and iframes whatever the fastest way was to get the content in there. I sort of feel unclean.

ok, haven't been here too much lately...
Went on a church mission trip (as an adult chaperon) came home to find (what I thought) was cat pee in the basement carpet and tile is wet and stiiiinkky. clean it up. Next day get home late after getting the dog and picking up groceries, 10pm to find out the cat(s) must have peed again. odd - then we find out the basement door drain (right outside the door) didn't drain and had flooded into our house while we were away and that day again.
Fine, we need to pull up the carpet, no going to put down wood laminate. then after reading an email from my brother and clicking the link (to a LOST website) computer freezes and upon restart my second hard drive with all digital photos and freelance is not working! It is several states away now at a Data Recovery center...could be $300-1600+ for data retrieval--UGG.

The way I understand it Kool, the stations don't make their big profits at the beginning of the price hikes. The first spike benefits the top suppliers the most. Then when price per barrel goes back down, the stations float the price back down more gradually. That's when the stations maximize their profits. Probably doesn't make you feel any better I suppose... seeing as how that just extends the time drivers get to pay the higher prices.

The station identification logos are the worst! I know sometimes I'll be watching a PBS thing, like Frontline, or Independent Lens, and they'll be in a foreign country, so they need subtitles, and the logo covers up the subtitles! So you can't even see what the person is saying! Super bad move.

I remember when living in an apartment with my wife and had already picked out a house with a nice large kitchen...I was thinking about eh new kitchen and how great it would be compared to the galley-kitchen in the apartment....chop chop, slice slice, ouch, cut the side of my thumb almost down to the nail.
ugg that was painful (last bit of chopping though). sharper knives make better cuts that wont get as infected if that helps.

My brother cut off the tip of his finger while cutting carpet a number of years ago and he didn't even realize it until it bled. He actually found the tip, and when I got to his place he told me to hold out my hand. I sheared off the top part of the side of my little finger when I was younger, so that it was hanging off. I was trying to shove the metal pole of an umbrella without a handle into a big bamboo cane to make a den and the bamboo split and mangled my finger. I ran to show my mum and she freaked, turned white and told me to find my dad, so I had to run around with the side of my finger dangling, shouting for my dad. Buda and Tea, are you as squeamish as my mum?

GAH!
The production manager comes in to ask for our files to be rotated a certain way and resent to the CTP. That in itself is fine, he gets to decided where it is gripped depending on which press is used. We guess and we are right most of the time, but sometimes jobs are special and done a little differently. No problem.
My problem is that he says stuff like "Please rotate it 45 degrees clockwise" when he actually means "90 degrees counter clockwise". It really does my head in. I have to ask him to show me exactly what he means instead of trying to decipher his instructions.
So he comes in just now and asks for the job to be rotated 180 degrees clockwise.
I'm like: so you want me to turn it upside down?
He replies: No, just 180 degrees clockwise.

I actually made a dumb mistake because I misheard something regarding rotation.
Somebody told me they wanted a panel on a carton rotated 180 degrees. What I heard was that they wanted it rotated 90 degrees. Since the panel wasn't square, I was fidgeting and fidgeting with the contents to try to get them to fit on the rotated panel.
I finally got it to work, and when I showed it to the person who requested the change, she said, "But I said I wanted it rotated 180 degrees. It just needed it to be flipped upside down."
I kept the version of the file I had worked on, but labeled it with a "DUH" in the file name.
I'm not usually that dumb, but occasionally I just have complete brain spasms like that.

Oh, I go through that all the time. I find I usually don't need it especially after I've hemmed and hawed long enough that it's out of date by then.
What really irks me today....(I could do a daily irk blog) is when someone uses high pressure tactics to try and talk you into doing something you don't want to do. Thankfully, after writing in my journal, I realized this is a multi-level marketing thing, like Scamway, Mary Kay, etc. and I do not want any part of it. It took a long phone call this morning to bust away, but I did it. Just pisses me off that they use more than one person to send in for the attack and shanghai you into their world. More than that, they put the spin on it's a group of "women" so of course you could trust that fact.

Now I get to find all this out despite the fact that it's not my job, nor was it ever part of my job description, but because there's nobody else here to do it, it got dumped on me. And most of the people I've got to call, I can't find where she put their files, so I can't find any ad agreements. Our basement doesn't really flood. but if it rains a lot we can accumulate some pretty deep puddles because of the uneven floor. Nothing quite like trying to find some cereal after just waking up and hearing squish as u step into 3-4 inches of water..... It's a fun wake up.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
about the sump pump...we have one but never heard it run and not sure the water actually makes it over to it, there was standing water (granted only Half Inch) about 3-4 feet away. I think either the floor is not sloped that way or might be better to have two sump pumps.
onto the drain. I cannot get a screwdriver in to see under the drain cover; almost feels like it has cement down in the grooves. However, i can see water 5 inches down and when poking a tiny dowel rod, it only goes in 6-8 inches.
The flooring has buckled near where they meet each other - though not every board. My wife is hoping the washing machine or Hot Water heater will die like our neighbors have had within the past 4 months and that will Ruin the nice flooring we put in for insurance to help out.
We are taking a basement break today and going to some fish stores!

before you wash it use rubbing alcohol ... saturated it and rub gently .. it should take out a lot of it. ;)
and this might help if that doesn't

Just don't wash it before you try anything that will set the stain.

our new neighbors who moved into the office space next to ours who like to smoke in front of our office and steal. There have been at least 2 or 3 car break-ins in the past month since they moved in.

having to work the entire pancaking weekend while my roomie is up at the Ren fair. Friday and Saturday sewing up a last minute costume when I asked him for months if he was interested in going (when then the answer was no) then a day after the second car is in the shop, where as I can't delay it anymore. He asks to go to the Ren. Well because the car is in the shop with an estimated $700 in repairs there's no freaking way I can go to the Ren -----because I had never planned on it because I was under the assumption we weren't going.
Then last week the server "aquired" an irc bot so according to the boss its "my fault" and I have to clean up the server on my own time. BS. So I have a new server to transfer 60 domains today.
I promised two companies their websites will be done on Tuesday and the boss hijacks me for three days telling me to "clear my calendar" when he knows very well that these websites were supposed to be done and I was gone on Thursday.
It's 4:30PM on a gorgeous sunday and I'm working for the third day on my own time to clean up the bloody mess.

Bummer Jade! Bummer. I spent about 5 hours at work myself today. Yuck.
Things that jerk my chain? OH PANCAKE....I'm p.o.'d about this and I WILL pancaking do something about it...number one...I believe in the Protect and Serve people. But apparently we have a rat bastard cop on our small town force who is stalking young ones. Pancaker. Mother Pancaking pancaker. $#@$%^@#$@#$@#$@%
Number 2? On top of that, who are you going to call when you just find out that the ******* (I can see him from my window) who moved in recently is a sex offender. Can you say p.o'd. Pancake. ****. Great...so the stalker is supposed to protect my dd from the sex offender. How great is this? Grrrrrrrr.
******* owns a freaking pitbull too. So, guess what ...yeah...he holes up some young poor innocent little girl and no one can get there because of ******* dog.
I'm livid and my blood is boiling. I am a woman on a GD mission now. and that is not Graphic Design.

(((HUGS Tea)))
anything I can do from here just let me know. Are you calling the county tomorrow?
the problem is that the kids and parents feel so threatened by this guy that they are afraid, so no one has reported it. So I've got some leg work to do. What a red flag if I've ever seen one. The people here tend to shut up and keep the peace and take it. I can't sit by and let that happen.
The sex offender is not registered, so I may just find out from the city why we weren't notified, but one step at a time. I have to think before I act on all accounts. But I've got some good connections.
Thanks for the offer. You never know who you might be able to further your need. I appreciate it.

Grrrr. Took an extra day off. Ran out this morning to do some errands. About an hour after I got back, the smoke detector in the hallway started chirping. And of course I don't have a 9V battery anywhere in the house, so I have to go out again. And the humidity is way up today. :(

The best is when it starts that chirp in the middle of the night while you're sleeping. Ours has done that twice.

easy fix for that. rip it off the ceiling and throw it down the stairs =] mine did that just a month or 2 ago actually

Aha. I have now figured out why I never have 9V batteries at home.
I always buy a two-pack, so I'll have a spare in the drawer. When I get home, I realize that this smoke detector takes two 9v batteries. And I somehow never remember to buy more replacements.
*puts 9v batteries on shopping list*

We had a problem with a CO2 detector in the house (we have Natural Gas for Heat) and it chirped as if a low battery (even when plugged in) and after many tries eventually unplugged it and tossed it in a drawer.

I have a carbon monoxide detector wired in to my alarm system and a separate one in my bedroom (courtesy of my parents ;) ). There are several deaths every winter from CO poisoning here.

My husband keeps a decent stock of 9v's around because he uses them in his acoustic guitar pickups. However they're usually among the gear he keeps in his car so the detector will hang from the ceiling until he feels like fishing one out.

I really hate when a someone running for political office tries to appeal to the Spanish-speaking voters by putting out a piece in Spanish that's completely RIDDLED with grammar mistakes and misspellings (no accents like é, á, í etc. as needed). I don't speak fluent Spanish, but I could only imagine that if I did and saw a piece so horribly translated I would be so offended I'd tell all my other friends not to vote for them. These candidates are lucky that, though I could care less whether they get elected or not, I still care enough about the pieces I put out that I want them to be grammatically correct even if they're not in English.

I saw a political brochure this weekend at the state fair that was not designed well at all (totally different from eh grammatical issues). I think it was a template stock from the National Party that was then printed with info from the State party (or so I hope) as it looked awful.

Aww, you said "my husband". :)
Here's one that is currently jerking my chain. A request from a client for a quote for a DVD sleeve. All I have from them are the trim and fold specs for the sleeve. No content, no images, no logo, no clue what kind of product this is even for, no brief, and a web link that is to a site that's just a template not even specific to the client but which they'd like the design to look like. Oh, and a request for a preliminary design (note the part above where I said no content) by tomorrow, if the quote is approved.
This was, quite literally, a line from the email request: We feel that this piece couldn't be difficult and would only require some design elements and a good "eye".
WTF?

Well, if it "couldn't be difficult," why doesn't the client just do it in PowerPoint or Publsher?!
Man, that really blows. Unfortunately too many of my clients give me about the same amount of information to start with. :(

UGH!!!
So at work the one designer is out, and since I am his 'back up worker' I get to do all his work since he is gone. No biggie... Except he is gone for 2 weeks (this week is over) and wed-fri of next week I am going on vacation. So that means that I have to complete all my work by next Tuesday night. I planned it out an can do it, its a crunch, but I can do it....
So I wake up this morning and my kitchen is leaking... a LOT. So now I have to call into work today and I know the boss man isn't gonna be happy. What can one do? *sigh*

Ouch!
I feel your pain. water leaking sucks big time.
not anything close, but after all my troubles with drains not draining, my wife and I were changing the water in our fishtank the other night and the handle on the bucket broke and 2-4 gallons of water dumped all over the kichen floor. it cleaned up rather quick but we had to laugh as water seems to be our destroyer lately.

haha... that really sucks. I've done that before.
Just had the maintenance people here. They said that last week some roofers were working on my building removing some old TV antennas and probably knocked something loose up there and it's leaking in. Bad part? They can't do anything until the rain stops! :(

talking to one of the managers yesterday about an upcoming tradeshow. I really don't want to go to this show, and there's really no point in me going, so I told her about family coming into town on the same day as the show (in another city) and I'd rather see them instead, as it's been almost 10 years. She said that this time it's not a problem because they're not going to be sending me now anyways, but in the future, to bad for my family.
Um, excuse me??? No....Not to bad for my family. They take presidence over ANY job. Especially family that I only get to see 1 night every 10 years. she tries a stunt like that again and tells me I'm going, I'll tell her to bad for them, I'm seeing my family! If they want to fire me for that, go right ahead! I just shot her a look and walked out of her office. the receptionist couldn't believe she said that to me either....
^^^
My oldest granddaughter when she was little used to suffer from febrile seizures (everytime she would get sick and have a high fever she would have seizures) so I took a day off work to keep an eye on her. My boss told me that it wasn't my problem and I should let her mother handle it.
