This is the intitial layout for a site I am working on. I thought I would see what the experts thought before I submitted it to the customer.

Thanks,

As long as it is just your rough draft and you do plan to fix your edges and sharpen it up a bit then it looks great;)

Is that place any good to eat at? I stay with some family in Olathe while I'm down to watch the Twins and Royals play every year.
I dont know man.... it doesnt really excite me. When I think of sports bar, I think of an enjoyable dinner or lunch, in a fun - sporty atmosphere. My first thought was no. no. dont show this to the client. But I dont know your client, only you do... and maybe together you will be able to work on more ideas for the site.
What I like:
The size of the site. Though I think it should be centered X and Y.
What I dont like:
The font choice. Please consider changing that... looks really, really, just not good. Something cleaner. The button "specials" is too small for the word, and it looks like you have specials squished in there.
The center aligned text..... work that out. Dont make the visitors read a centered paragraph that just floats in the middle.
The gray bar on the right. I think you can do better with this. find a way to display these great items without having to seperate the page.
The nav.
The background. Do something other than white. If you keep the white center on the page itself, change the background..... put some color out there!!
The burger pic. Work on the color of this pic.... needs to look more vibrant. maybe remove some of the glare on the onion, makes the burger look kinda greasy to me.
The TK pic. Looks like the main sign / entrance to TK's is covered by the red swoop dealy, and by a light pole. Maybe take a better pic of the place.

I dont know your experience level, or your design process.... but I would really lay down some sketches before you continue.... work our several ideas, some of what you have here, and some new things. See what you come up with.... put some time into it and you will suprise yourself. I promise!!
Not trying to bash your site... I think youve got a start here... but put some more thought, and time into this project. Consider the target audience, and think about how much fun you can have on this site... because next you might be making a site for a funeral home... not much fun in that. Take this critique for what its worth.. its only my opinion. Remember, if we arent honest about this stuff, you'll never improve.
Good luck.
