guys...

I work in a in-house studio for a company that takes care of its 6-7 divisions... within these divisions there are 100-150 clients that we design projects for...

We work for the corporate division & therefore we charge all our in-house printing.. WE have a Xerox 5065 & everything that goes through the printer we "try" to name the file (whether it b quark, illustrator, indesign, word etc) with the job number & then a code that relates back to the division... so we can charge the actual client...

All this data is created in comman workstation (printer software) & then this is exported into excel where the co-ordinator here has to sort through and group them all together to determine costs...

Is there some way of creating a diolgue box that prompts you to enter a code after you hit print... is there a script that can be written for this???

OR any ideas????

We used to have a Xerox color printer that used Splash as its RIP software, somewhere in there you could set it up to require that the person entered a code before they printed a job. We didn't use it, but I remember it being there. Does your printer have any RIP software associated with it?

There might be a feature in your RIP software that allows it to. If you lease the machine, definitely call the sales rep I'm sure they can help you figure it out. :)
