I work closely with the CEO at my job, and so far the thing I have been doing are so basic it’s not funny. Literally all I am doing in uploading jpgs. So my team leader asked me to design some new templates to what we called affiliate websites for our suppliers to promote their items. I wasn’t able to spend a lot of time of them so I quickly whipped up two new ones that where not too different from the current ones, apart from the fact mine where divs and not all tables . Because I am dealing with the web side of things I have had a few calls from people stating that they did not like the current templates that the web developers had done, and of course mine had been sat there waiting to be approved before they could be used at all. I waited and waited, and because I have to Customerize these templates it was so frustrating for me to work with such crappy templates so I pushed for mine to be uploaded. Then today I was just told by my team leader that the CEO didn’t like mine and would rather tighten the ones they have. Then I was originally meant to re design the company site and now I have to work with someone else on it. So its basically not the job I applied for and I feel very underestimated. I have a lot more to offer then just uploading images! I have always had a feeling these web developers wasn’t keen on my upcoming projects and I reckon they have had a word with the CEO. The fact is Ill be given all the easy work to do and my input probably won’t even get listened too. I suppose most of you have had the same huh? Where are all the web designers! Please tell me because I want to go there too haha.

If they're paying you good, screw it, go on GDF all day and do freelance projects at work .

Ok,ok j/k but what can you do about it other than quit or just keep doing your thing until you get another chance to prove yourself? You could always put in some time on your own and prove to them that you are serious and dedicated to your work.

I once worked at a rental store for a bunch of rednecks and I originally was supposed to be a parts supplier and delivery person and instead got placed in the equipment yard with a bunch of unintelligent greese monkeys. My attitude was pretty poor about it and I just quit. It wasn't something I cared enough about to put up with.

You'll have to ask yourself that question too. Because I can guarantee that showing them that you are feeling underestimated is not going to make them want to give you more work.

I say just do the junk work if they are paying you good for it, and hang out with us on GDF in all your free time. Talk about stress free employment ;)

:) I thought that was sound advice. Stretch your design and brain muscles at freelance projects. Get a great portfolio and move on.

Webdesignville... it's an island 100 miles off the south coast of Ireland.
