eek, I can't decide between B and C... I'll get back to you.
I actually thought of those two also.
However, I'm leaning more towards (my chair has a short leg) C because it'll give more freedom for the illustration. B would require thin rectangular designs.
Something just popped into my head...
Maybe D would be a better one since the brain usually tells us to look from left to right, so they'll always be drawn to the illustration first, then the date.

I like C or D. I agree with Myst, the aspect ratio of the illustration is better in those two options. I'm going to vote for D.

ok, much as I hate to agree with a goat, I can see his point.
I can't decide between C and D. I think I'm leaning toward C, but then I'm a lefty, so maybe that's influencing my decision.

I think I like option d the best or maybe c..not sure...

Before this poll I had envisioned B - because I have a calendar like that here. But it would be easier - as Myst mentioned to have the dates on the left or right so that the design is more square. So I pick D. Because I'm right handed.
By the way, can we also vote on what day of the week is the start? I'm more a Monday is the start of the week kinda girl.

I wonder...thinking about the holder and how it has a lip that comes up at the bottom...would that interfere with the visibility on any of these layouts?

Oh bums that is a good point balou. That probably means that you have to take the calendar out of the case to write in the bottom 2 dates. I guess that's ok...You have to take the calendar out of the case to flick through to write on it anyway.
Are you really gonna write appointments and stuff on your GDF calendar? :)

I won't be using mine for anything other than a momento of this event... I don't want to ruin it ;)

B.
That's how I envisioned it from the start. I figured the lip of the holder would frame the dates and not interfere with the design on the rest of the card.
If the case is clear it should be ok, but if it's got any kind of a tint I think B would be better. Sometimes cases can have a light "smokey" tint to them.
I'll leave my choice as D, but if the case is anything other than clear, I would vote B.

I don't plan on writing on mine either but I think the lip is going to break up the image a bit so I'm going with B also. I think the dates will be under the lip and the graphic will be uninterrupted.

I write on desk calendars that aren't in a case, but I probably wouldn't write on one inside a case.

I had envisioned the dates along the bottom originally, but I think I like 'D' now. And as far as the start-on-Monday-or-Sunday issue, I think for a weekly calendar it should start on Monday.
The week starts on sunday. Wouldn't it take credibility away if ours was to start on monday?

I think of a week-at-a-glance calendar being more useful in a work setting, and the work week starts on Monday. Then again, I've been working 7 days a week since September, the days all blend together after a while.

The weekly calendar I bought starts on Monday, but our wall calendar starts on Sunday. Now I'm confused...

Well, most of the calendars I see start the week on Sunday. Which is kinda odd, if you really think about it, because for the Christian parts of the world, Sunday is the day of rest, isn't it? The 7th day? Then again, not being Christian, perhaps I have no idea what I'm talking about. :D
I think it matters not which day we decide to make the first day of the week, as long as we all agree on it so it doesn't change from one week to the next, which would get confusing.

Yes, I don't mind either as long as it is consistant.
Lets just start it on Sunday because that is standard throughout most of the world.
I, and I'm sure everybody else who buys one of these calendars will also have a "regular" calendar nearby to guide them through the year 2008. I assumed from the way this whole project started that it was mostly about the art. Our art.
So can we just vote on a position here and then I'll make some quick templates and away we'll go. http://home.comcast.net/~rnick9/koolsmiley.gif

I posted my vote, which was D. >>>at the ready, waiting for the position decision. :)
It looks like D is gonna win unless B can pull off a late rally. http://koolsplace.com/images/woohoo.gif
The voting will close tomorrow morning.

TEAM SPIRIT!
(it's not working though)
I have to reserve the right to say "I told you so" though when Friday (my favorite day of the week) is all bubbly from the curved lip of the case. And if I'm wrong, I'll surrender my pom poms. ;)
Is there a way we could check that? I wonder if a place like Staples would have these cases where we could check to see if it does distort the image.
Because now we're assuming that B wouldn't distort the dates, but what if only 2/3 of the date is behind the case and the top third is not? Then all the days would be distorted, no?
