A little while ago (two or three years) I remember learning a Photoshop technique for isolating spots of dust in images. It required making two identical adjustment layers and changing the blending modes. Then, depending which one was on top of the other, if would show the dust spots in the upper and lower ends of the histogram over a fairly neutral grey image, so you could stamp them out.

The problem is this: I can't remember where I learned it (magazine, online, etc) or what those adjustment layers were and the blending mode they were set to. It was a killer technique, and I'm sure everyone would appreciate learning it.

Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about? Please offer any ideas you can think of, or other techniques you've picked up. Thanks in advance!
