We create tender presentations and I have seen a paper covered board that would act as a cover and back - it would be ideal for the work we do but for the life of me I can't think of what you would call it - Does anyone know?
I want to see if it is possible to produce in house as it costs 50 uk pounds a set to go out side the company. Do we need any specialist equipment?

are you on about foamcore? like a sheet of foam with card on each side? 'bout 5mm thick?
or you wanting something thinner?
Its thinner - if you can imagine a piece of card, 2-3mm thick and then rapped with paper - a bit like a very thin christmas present!!
Possibly illustration board or matboard? Matboard comes in a huge range of colors and textures. But that's what they call it where I am from. London, not so sure.
I'm curious to know...what is a "tender" presentation?
I work for a construction company and produce documents (tenders) that inform a possible client, when, how and the cost of a particular project they have - new schools, housing refurbishment and office and retail fit out.
We want to be able to print our own covers, wrap them around a board and produce the proffessional finish that is costing us £50 a set.
I want to know what the final product is called and if there is any machinery we need to invest in.

sorry Jam, without knowing exactly what you're talking about, the only thing i could suggest is just using some nice paper stock, recycled 300gsm+ card, some spray mount and a few minutes with a scalpel... you could probably come up with something pro looking... :)

I believe what you are looking for is called "pressboard". Of which you can cut and bend into whatever packaging needs you want. Basically, if I get the right idea its a thin cardboard like packaging that you create a portfolio presentation for your project.
