I'm about to go crazy here, hope you can help me with the following problem:

Somehow i'm suddenly unable to change the color of text in InDesign? I created a document yesterday, worked on it all evening, and everything was fine. Now, today, i reopen it, trying to change the color of some textblocks, and it simply won't let me?!

I can apply swatches, but when selcting the text and choosing a color with the cmyk-sliders, nothing happens. I stripped the box if its formatting (didn't help), and even created an entirely new box, retyped the text, and still can't change it - nothing happens, no matter if i use the sliders or enter the values by hand. And, before you ask, yes, i am aware that there's separate buttons for color and text-color (with the little T on it).

I guess there's a simple explanation for this, but i simply can't find it.

What's complicating this issue by the way is when i created the new text, i could change the color once (just ramdomly moved a slider to check). After that, it too became impossible to change the color to anything else (except applying a swatch).

Hope someone can recognize this...

Thanks in advance :-)

That's very odd. Can you post a screenshot of what your workspace looks like? Showing the tools and palettes you're using to try to change the color?

Have you tried to see if you're having problems with just the one document, or is it all documents that are giving you trouble? If it's just in one document, it could be that there's some corruption in the file. If it's across all documents, then perhaps your InDesign preferences are corrupt.

Try doing a save as on the document, and renaming it something else. You could also try exporting it as an Interchange format file, that often clears out any odd corruptions that might be present in the file.

If it's with all documents, try throwing away your InDesign preferences.
