Slicing Tutorial

So my interactive director was having some troubles within his department because everyone was doing the slicing in a different way. This inconsistency caused us some serious headaches so he asked our web developer to just put up a quick blog to get everyone on the page. So if anyone is interested we've posted the tutorial here.

If you can, I would recommend moving towards tableless web layouts.

Making background images that accommodate element resizing is pretty crucial as you say, and requires a fair bit of thought. An excellent book on this is Dan Cederholm's Bulletproof Web Design (http://www.simplebits.com/publications/bulletproof/).
