I need to find a web-safe font to go with Trajan, as the display font.
See some examples (http://www.jackfruitdesign.com/designs/davidduskin/)
I kind of think Arial (number 3) works OK, and maybe Trebuchet (number 1).
What would you guys look for when trying to match a font like this? Is it just subjective?

Pre-lubrication?

It's subjective, in that it's mainly going to depend on the overall feel you want for the site.
The Trebuchet looks good to me. It's going to depend on whether or not the other person has it installed of course, but as a first choice, it looks good to me.

Somehow I just knew you had to have gone there...
LOL.

In truth, word has it that Trajan has joined the 'over-used' list. Must be packaged with Windows or something.

mmm... could someone point me in the direction of a general list of completely over used fonts? that'd be fab.

Comic Sans (http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20588)
Papyrus
Times New Roman
Brush Script
for starters.

That's a really good idea. Perhaps we could start a poll on fonts that are overused.

These are web-safe fonts, guys, except for Trajan which is dictated by the client and would be put in as images.
Using web-safe fonts basically knocks you down to:
Arial, Courier New, Verdana, Georgia, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS, Comic Sans MS and Impact.
anything that contrasts is your best bet.
