I am a fairly new graphic design student and have been given an advertising task that has to include a duality of meaning, hopefully the link between header and image. this is what I have came up with so far (i will be putting together some kind of logo at the bottom of the page so please ignore that) thanks everyone.

She meant that you've used the symbol for women's toilet, with a crown, so it would be the Queen's toilet. :D

i get where you're going with this, its a somewhat clever idea, i did a t-shirt design with the same thought as part of a series a few years ago for a company in vegas.

if you're going to stick with that design, i'd say you should keep the colors more consistant with the standard restroom sign, blue and white etc. i could totally see this ad in a magazine, but i'd picture the ad layout with a manipulated or totally created photo of an actual restroom sign hanging on a wooden door, so that you can just see the door in the background for placement. I think the photo-realisitc element to the design will make it seem more clever. with your tagline of "poker on the mind?" you want to create the image for your viewers of someone actually seeing a restroom sign, but imagining the crown because they're thinking about poker. i also think you should change the "mind" to "brain" because i think it's more common to say you have something on the brain. also maybe consider a spread hand of cards placed in the woman's hand, just to really poker it up.

Is there a reason for the light violet bands?

I don't think they are helping the concept any so it's prombably best to live without.

The clarity isn't there yet.

When I look at it I think of the queen's toilet or something.

Dig deeper

Also, when you advertise your headline do should do most of the work.

No one cares about poker nation nor do they care about a royal flush.

So instead try to play of desires and fears rather then directly stating what it is that they are are "selling". Cause no one cares what they are selling they only care about themselves- and the only thing thing people care about are what they can gain(desire) or lose(fear of loss).

Perhaps instead try to answer in your ad how poker nation can help them win. Everyone likes money. Address what makes them different then the thousands of other online poker rooms. Is it that I will have a better chance of winning?- what? That should be more along the lines of the direction you should prombably be heading.

The best advertising reveals a hidden truth- so think on that.
