You can't realy see it that well here but there is a .75pt white stroke around the whole thing incase I'm printing on some colour other than white.

This is probobly just the framework of my personal logo. I still can't stand my old one that my teacher just loves:

So I decided to try and come up with a new one. I eventually (meaning when I can come up with some sort of viable idea) want to come up with a logo that represents me with the theme of photography. But I can't come up with any ideas for that so I'm just playing with my name now.

I like your old one better. The new one is too flimsy.

I think you're making good progress - it's good to see you working in black and white! I worry that it will lose something at small sizes. To be honest, I think I like the first one better.

here's my best advice on logo design:

i don't know about anyone else, but i can't even tell what letters you're going for there to be honest. it looks like maybe jdip? i can only tell the d because of the old logo though. i think starting with some sketches like morea suggested is going to help you out. i think designing your own logo is one of the toughest things there is to do in design. good luck with this, keep us updated.

I would recommend stepping back from the computer.

Its hard to tell what your trying to communicate and the clarity is obscure.

There is no hierachy to lead the eye or areas of accents to give clue as to how you want the viewer to interpute your initials(?).

Above all else, your concept is weak.

Your design looks as if it is merly being based on aesthetics and nothing else.

Like morea pointed out word-association is key to a great logo. Finding contrasting representations that when combined create a whole new meaning(dicodimace relationship). A meaning which reinforces your message. So keep going… I "gave up" a while back,lol- or at least for now.

good luck
