Hey guys and girls! Im begin work on an annual report for a bank. I have sketchs but no scanner right now. A concept im thinking about is to have a pile of shredded paper on the cover with no background. A nice shadow and the words doing more so you dont have to. Then in the annual talk about id theft.
On one hand, id theft is throwin in our faces everyday, on the other, it nice to educate people.
I was also thinking about have a marathon runner finishing a race with the tag line -going the extra mile- ,or have a road sign that says something to that effect. With just the sign on the cover.
Any ideas on how to elaborate on this or should i go in a different direction.
Thanks

Have you googled Annual Reports?
Last year when I did ours, I found a couple of great resource sites that allowed you to view PDFs of company annual reports, good to see some ideas/direction of similar companies.
I am missing something with your first cover idea to give any feedback right now. sorry.

I like the first idea - the second is too cheesey.
You could use all sorts of bits of security stationary/stuff scanned in. Perhaps make each chapter/section a different zone of security.
Fingerprint scanners, retina scanner, cameras, password prompts, ID cards/tags, things that look like passports...

I think the first one is pretty clever as well. I agree that the other options of the runner and road sign are a little less engaging.

I liked the first one as well I think Im going to try and develope that a bit further. The bank contacts didnt really like the idea, but maybe I can win them over.
I have been looking at bank annuals on the net. Nothing really really great though. Most bank annuals are dull and boring to be honest. I think the banking industry is just to up tight to do anything really conceptual.

I wish I could find the one site i found as it was the "cream of the crop".
Most annuals i saw had a great intro and then it quickly went boring.
re-reading the post, I think another play on teh security issue would be to have several covers, each with another photo of a security feature, like a chain and padlock, retina scan and fingerprint scan (as stated above), computer log-ini/password promt, A key hole and others to show that even though the info in the Annual Report is public, the information the bank has is very secure. I will keep looking for the site though.

this site is laid out similarly but the site last year was a darker tone overall, maybe they updated the site. it feels like the same site when going through it and you can also look at more creative Annuals to get a fresh take on things that may help your client/bank get more feedback
