Greetings to everyone. I am thinking about buying CMS for my site. All i want is a good system for a reasonable price... or for free :) Please do not STFI me. I did look around the internet, however most of the stuff I found was either crap, or expensive, or sometimes expensive crap :). My question is basically if someone has used or is using a CMS I would really appriciate your replies and short comments about the product. That would really help out a lot...
thanks.
I don't see anything wrong with Macromedia Contribute.
If you want free, there's lots of php based Content Management Systems around, but you get what you pay for.

I'd have to say that in the world of CMSs, the truth is almost the opposite of "you get what you pay for." Most of the commercial ones are pretty poor, while there are some excellent open source content management systems out there.
The most important choice that you need to make, though, is the one between ease of use and flexibility. Joomla, for example, is a very easy to use CMS, but it's certainly not the most flexible. Still, if what you need falls within the feature set of Joomla, it's probably the best choice.
At the other end, you get systems like Plone or Drupal. These are extremely powerful and flexible systems, but that comes at the cost of them not being nearly as easy to use as Joomla.
And stay away from anything with "Nuke" in the name. They're all terrible.

check out www.cmsmatrix.org. It's a pretty good place to start looking for a CMS. It covers tons of them and is searchable based on multiple criteria.

thank you all for the answers
I don't really feel like using an open source system. I am not a developer and have no idea how things work. Basically what I'm looking for as a commercial system where i can buy say a license and installation, so I don't have to worry about things. Plus if anything goes wrong, I will always have someone to turn to... instead of browsing the internet trying to figure out why in the world the system is giving out errors.

How about something like this: http://www.site-foundry.co.uk/.
Looks promising to me.

what do you want it fir exactly? would a blog CMS suffice - look at Movable Type, or TypePad which is even easier as it's a hosted solution

The commercial ones are not poor. Webside Story Publish has been highly recommended to me. Although, it's not exactly cheap.

Webside Story is good - but it's clunky. It has a pretty steep learning curve
