The mention of designers wearing all black with heavy rectangle frames and their hair all gelled like in the Matrix made me wonder what other folks wear.

I'm self-employed, but I do have an outside office now. When I was working from home, it was usually yoga pants and a favorite t-shirt with lots of holes in it.

Now that people in this little town might *gasp* SEE me, I tend to wear jeans and a trendy top, or some comfortable slacks and a sweater. Kind of "business casual" I am told, but I try to have some creative element in what I wear.

If I do wear all black (been known to happen from time to time) I add a colorful scarf as a belt to break up the monotony.

I wear trash bags with holes cut out conviently for my appendages. In the winter, I switch to burlap sacks.

LOL mac.FINN.

I wear mostly black. My hair is slicked back in the morning but when it dries it falls down. My glasses are rounded at the corners though, not rectangular.

Right now, black slacks and a blue sweater. Sometimes though, I wear this:

bathrobe, 24 hours a day. i got it for christmas, it's heavy and super soft, i've pretty much had it on since then. i'm leaving saturday for a week vacation in germany, a cruise down the rhine, and i'm packing my bathrobe because i don't know that i can survive without it anymore.

oh, did i mention i run my own business from home? luckily my boss has a pretty lax dress code. he also has a pretty lax attendance policy. come to think of it, all his policies are prett lax... i'm going to go take a nap.

Khaki shorts, white t-shirt, flip flops for now. It's about 75 degrees here, so when I go out I'll put on some jeans and probably another white shirt with red and khaki tennis shoes!

I just wear nice blue jeans or khakis, t-shirt and sneakers. If we have a BIG client come in... I'll wear nice khaki slacks, button down shirt or polo with comfortable yet dressy shoes.

Usually I wear nice jeans or slacks, and a cool top or sweater. ACCESSORIES ARE A MUST!! Got to add some funk to it! There is not a day you can find me without a weird necklace, chunky earring, psychedelic scarf, or groovy pin. And don't get me started on my shoes! ;)

I work in a office-casual kind of place. Though even that is left behind by some. I ask you, is a Disney t-shirt and acid-wash jeans appropriate work wear? I THINK NOT! Unless of course you work at home, and are stuck in the late eighties.

rose-o is the stylish one in the family. :)

I work from home so I'm usually pretty casual - jeans & such. I do usually have a scarf or a knit cap on my head. The clients get black slacks and sweater or jeans & blazer. Sometimes in the summer my hippie flag flies and I get all weird with skirts and scarves and funky colors.

Depends on the situation.

In the office: cargo khakis and a nice shirt.

Meeting my own clients: black pants or a nice skirt and top, sometimes a dress.

Working from home: pj's most of the day. Nobody has to look at me except the cats.

Did I give you guys a complex?

Those that aren't wearing black thinking they should and those that are, thinking not? Hmmm?

:D

I should'a' mentioned the 15% of tourists here that aren't wearing black are wearing jeans and t-shirts or funky big colorful sweaters and leggings depending on gender. Seems to be designer thing too.

I wear work casual good enough for those surprise client meetings. Oh, didn't we tell you...? Those are the days I invariably spill the coffee on the ride in.

I actually wear a uniform at work.
Khaki colored pants-or shorts, uniform top (a burgundy polo with logo) and/or a black sweatshirt or black fleece jacket with logo.

I have no idea as to why I have to wear one, I never deal with members (it is a Health Club management company) and certain other folks around here never wear one.
Oddly enough, sneakers are forbidden unless you are a trainer, or exercise or tennis instructor.
Sandals are fine in summer.

At home I'm usually in jeans, or painters or carpenters or cargo pants, t-shirt or some type of henley, and button down shirt (never buttoned, never tucked). If I wear a sweater, it is usually 100% wool (don't mind the itch) and is usually one color -no wierd pattern.
Just about everything is solid color except for plaids, and there I prefer traditional tartan patterns.

Except for work, I never, ever wear a logo. I hate the idea of being some dumb companies branding vehicle without being compensated.
I often take off the labels on my clothes.

Odd as it is for a designer, I am sick of how logos are stuck on every thing in site.

Don't forget the giant plastic strap on T-Rex tail (will go well with the feather boa that I'm guessing you stole from Marc Bolan)

I used to do the Matrix thing.. I'd wear all black, black glasses, baggy space-age raver pants, etc. That was years ago. Nowadays I wear jeans and a long-sleeve-collared shirt thingy. My life is far too disorganized these days to pay attention to fashion.

Ned
03-01-2007, 09:08 PM
I used to dress in black, long time ago (long before The Matrix). Now I never wear all black. I dress professionally, and generally stick to tans and earth tones for casual businses wear, or charcoals and greys for more important meetings.

Jackimalyn
03-01-2007, 09:22 PM
I dress pretty professionally. I work in-house so i think if i wore all black or typical artsy fashion-like it's be a little too cliche' and Id stand way out. Evereyone would stare at me and whisper "whos she??" ..."oh, she must be in the ART department..."

Sometimes I wear a monocle. just for good measure.

That's cool, Cornfed... All my best trenchcoats have been lost or stolen... My ex was wearing my favorite tan London Fog, when it was taken from a house party, and my nice Jones New York manchester coat disappeared without a trace, I'm not sure when.

I've still got a blue Pierre Cardin, but it's so militant looking!
