past weekend I went hiking with a bunch of colleagues and friends to the hills above my town... here are some shots
This is part of the trail up the mountain. Here there are buffalo too, and the prospects of meeting some, (or worse still) a lone buffalo was thrilling. We had an armed ranger for safety though.

From the summits you can see the Great Rift Valley below to one side and my home town, Ngong Township, on the other...
This is a dam in the valley...

Yeah it's beautiful.:)
I've been up 5 times and I'm always suprised by the view, also the trail seems different every time.
It took 3 and half hours to walk up. They're really easy to climb and no special gear is needed. It's Feb, so it is very hot right now, all you need is a wide brim hat, good walking shoes and lots of water.
I'm hoping to do Kilimanjaro over Easter, if I can get hold of a good pair of water-proof boots... any ideas what kind would do?
PatKennedy went up in Dec 2006...Pat'?

Sama - it's been a while since I've been in the market for hiking boots, but I do know that Gortex boots are excellent in wet conditions.
Beautiful pics! I love the lone tree!
