I know I know, sunrises and sunsets but I dont care. My boyfriend and I realized on our way home from our friends' housewarming party, it was almost sunrise, so we went to the lakefront to watch. It was so beautiful with the waves and the ice (it was like 20 degrees F) Anyway, here's the shots I got as the sun rose and my boyfriend sat warm and toasty in my car and I crawled down the ice to the lake...

nice shots... that 3rd one is breathtaking. What sort of camera are you using?

Just using my Nikon CoolPix S7C (http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25552), it's a nice digital camera for non-professional use, with a lot of manual settings, which I like to take advantage of. Its also got dumb/lazy settings for more Point and shoot kind of stuff

I agree the 3rd one is very cool. Nice job. I think the second one with some tweaking (levels, burning, dodging, etc.) could be pretty nice as well.

those are beautiful! I love the 3rd one. I don't care what people say about sunrises and sunsets. I like to look at pics of them. Every one is different!

The third one looks like some sort of alien planet, especially with the purple ice. Nice shots!

I really like the first one. It made me think of a Mark Rothko painting...

weird, I posted a link to an image of a mark rothko painting in my thread above, but the picture now gets the red x of doom and the option to edit my post has been removed. Have I committed a GDF faux pas? Am I being virtually spanked by a moderator? Or am I just a fool? Or all three?

Oh weird, where has the edit button gone?
I hope it's hasn't eloped with my sanity.
If so, we're all doooooooomed.

The last one looks like a person could have ran away from all their troubles in the night, slept on the floor, then woken up, turned to their side and got that view while yawning, they say a bright start to the morning a good day lol :)
Beautiful shots, Jacki, and on a non-SLR, to boot!!
Good report for Nikon, as well as yourself... :D
