I see where you're going, but I don't think it's quite there yet.

The "dot" over the I/1 in "first" doesn't fit, imo, because the word is in all caps. Capital I's aren't dotted... I find the dot distracting.

The word "flight" is kind of hard to read, and I don't think that the style of it really works with the font you are using for "First". The little plane icon is going to get totally lost when you shrink this down to business card size.

Can you post your sketches?

I don't know if I gave you this link last time or not, but check out the tips on logo design I posted here: http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24307

ok i can see what your saying now. i have tried to cummunicate with the two sets of fonts and have dulled the spot onto of the i/1 down. do you like it??? do you like the idea?? do you think i could perhaps remove the plain? or is it a nice touch? be honest with me, im learning and what to be the best.

thanks

I would totally remove the dot, and the plane. I don't think that either contributes anything to the logo, and they feel forced.

If you shrink the text down now to the size it would print on a business card or a pen, the word "flight" would be very small and hard to read.

Please read over the tips I posted in that link above, they explain a lot about logo design and the reasoning behind the "rules".

I'm not crazy about the look.

It looks like F R S T Flight to me. The dot and plane shouldn't be there for reasons mentioned by morea. A "1" doesn't have a dot over it, and as mentioned, neither does a capital I.

Your F1 reminds me of the Formula One logo, and that is your main design element.
I would recommend a change in direction.

If you want to get better, you owe it to yourself to check out the link recommended by morea.

I think you need to go back to sketching for a while, what you have here just isnt working. Its an ok concept, but maybe it needs to be executed in a differnet way. Im not saying I no what way I would have to play with it for a while and see. But move on from this idea and develope some more. Maybe get 5 more ideas that have nothing in common with this one.

how about if you made the 1/i a different color other than the background so you could see it then adjust the kerning so it all matches the fi.
