May need to install my Creative Suite CS2 on a second computer, and Adobe has said that as long as the second computer is a laptop or in the same home, and they are not running the programs at the same time, no prob. I'm wondering how Adobe would know this. I may need to install it on my work computer, which will most likely be a laptop. Does Adobe have the technical ability to monitor what computers their software runs on, or is it one of those regulations that can't be enforced, like the 'unauthorized lending' of DVDs?

The way I understand it, the license is good for a work and a home computer, be it a laptop or a desktop computer. I believe the activation looks at your IP address when you first go to hook it up. And yes, provided you don't have it running at the same time on two computers (that are both visible on the same network), you shouldn't have any trouble.
I can't speak to the enforceability of the activation restrictions, but I suspect it's based on your IP address when you first try to activate it. If it helps at all, I've installed the Creative Suite on three different work computers, all of which were connected to the same IP address, primarily because the first computer I installed it on died, which forced me to install it on a second computer that was a loaner, and then when I finally got my current work computer, I installed it on that one instead (removing it from the second one). I also do work from home, so I installed it on my iMac here at home. I had no trouble with any of those scenarios.

Every time you open one of their programs it "talks" to their site to verify you. I know this because I've had many issues with this causing problems when I'm not recognized. It requests I re-register the product and then I've lost all my saved features and settings. If you are using it on a computer that's not ever hooked up to the net, they'd never know.
Photoshop is the one which needs verification. Until you open PS, you'll be okay. Once you open PS, you'll need to activate.
If you have any problems with the activation, just choose "Other Activation Options => Activate by Phone". You will then be able to talk to an actual representative on the 1-800 number, and explain your situation. They'll then give you the code you need to activate.

Like Urstwile I've installed it on many machines, 3 at home and 4 at work. I appear to have bad luck with computers and break them fairly easily. (Or in one case accidently on purpose to force the boss to upgrade. :)
I've activated over the net and over the phone (the connection at work used to be rubbish) and I've never had any problems. Hopefully I'm not the minority. :)

As long as it's the latest edition of the software you can re-register, okay. Once they've come out with a newer version....fuggetaboutit..you get to pay a fortune for them to help you.
