Hey guys,

Would love to get some critique for this website design: http://www.hailstorm.com.au/clientsites/william_design/index.html
It's not for any of my projects, but just an idea i came up with (thought i'd design ASAP before i forgot about it).

thanks

i like the layout and colors very clean and subtle. the one thing that catches my eye is the spacing between the photos. i think if you even those up it will help it look a little more slick.

^^ Yep, fix the spacing between the images.

I don't know, the background colour seems really odd to me. I can't tell if it fits with the rest of the pallette or not.

Also, with a layout like this I'd really expect the content to be centered on the screen. Having it in the upper right really detracts from the unique proportions.

The color scheme and design of the site makes me feel relaxed and in a professional atmosphere, good work. As mentioned, the images need spacing adjustment.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, i picked up on the spacing as well..will fix it when i get a chance.

I've always had a style which is clean and simple, the 'less is more' philosophy.

Nice and elegant - seems rather intuitive.

I'm not a fan of the company plugs though. ie: "designed by hal..."

Really? Why not?

I feel like a web site should stand on its own without any relation to the designer. We design for people, not ourselves, and adding this "plug" seems slightly unprofessional in my opinion though.

The keyword is opinion - you see it on plenty of sites. However, its very rare on well established sites. There are obvious benefits to including it, but it makes a much stronger statement letting the work stand by itself.

I am slightly colorblind. I am on a Windows box using IE7 and the colors are too harsh for me. THe red is vibrating a bit and looks bad. could be windows, could be my eyes though since everyone else feels the colors are fine.
