Hey Guys, A friend of mine asked me to do a logo for his BBQ business. He has a mobile cooker and cooks all kinds of meat.. He said he wantet to incorporate a pig, and flames into the logo. I sketched out some ideas and during the process I thought to maybe keep away from a common illustration of a pig with an apple in its mouth, and move more twords a logo type... know what i mean? I tried to incorporate what the client wanted... but also keep it in the simple print-friendly category..
Should I go back to the drawing board?.... His business is called Cyr BBQ. Do you see the pig? is it easy to read that the Q is a pigs nose and mouth and the flames are the pigs eye?
This is kinda on a whim. i apreciate any ideas..comments...crit

Love the pig's nose in the Q. The flames feel like they were kinda slapped on there though. Maybe move them inside the C and make them a bit bigger. I would also like to see you experiment with different fonts. Also, the kerning differences on top and bottom bother me. I love the pig snout though.
Oh wait! The flame is the pig's eye. That will show me to actually pay attention when I'm reading. It's kinda hard to see, but I love the concept. See if you can emphisize it more.

This is neat concept. I recognize the pig with just the snout only - kind of how a the Nike swoosh screams nike, the snout says pig. I wouldn't worry about adding eyes or a mouth. Maybe the crossline of the Q could be a log with the flame on it? Flame under the pig? A thought.

Is it C Y R, or Cyr as in "sire"? Not sure how I should pronounce it with the kerning and the caps.
You could make the snout a little 3d ish and then have the now 3d looking snout become the cross of the Q. Help give it more of an instantanious recognition rather than "... *squint*... oh, it's a snout! I get it!"
And just on a personal note, I don't terribly care for the "curvy" sort of sans serif look. I generally, and this could just be me, have always thought of good, killer, BBQ being a nice, established sit-down resturant (hell, even if it wasn't, I still picture it like that), and the extra curves on the font chosen just doesn't give me that. =\

The flames does not do it for me, but the pig nose concept was really neat. Saw it pretty quick. Just wondering about how it would look in B/W.

really like the snout too - wud consider changing the font for the cyr to differentiate from the bbq element. how bout some flames coming up round the outside of the Q?

thanks so much for everyones input so far... I seriously need more fonts... I have been going crazy working only with the default adobe's. I think I am going to try and rework everything and keep the snout idea... work with a couple diff. fonts like spider mentioned.
maybe even some type treatment

I like it - the kerning is confusing though.
