Hi all,

Its been a while since I have asked for any help.
Well here is my problem and it could be me.

I am working in Photoshop (cs) and trying to add a gradient to a simple shape like a rectangle and I get this error message:
"Could not use gradient tool because the content of the layer is not directly editable"

SO my question is can I add gradient to a shape or is something I need to turn on to do this?

I may be thinking of something I can do in Illustrator as I have not that much in Photoshop lately so I am a little rusty.

Help

either create a new layer for the gradient and group it on top of the shape layer, or you can just use the Gradient Overlay under effects.

OK I will try that.

Thanks,
