If it's what I think it is, the fonts are no good. Are you on a mac or pc? Several times, I've received files from clients who have created their files on a Mac and then either zipped or created a CD of those files on a pc. I've been able to open the layout files but the fonts were no good.

If you are having the same problem panzer, you may have a problem loading your own fonts using Quark. For example, if the client used a ton of fonts and Times was used, Quark may say it's Times HR567 or some other nonsense. You may end up with some serious reflow issues. Several times I've called the client and explained the situation and told them to create the CD and or use stuffit from the MAC not the pc. Do not zip on the pc with mac files. I've had success everytime.

Servers, Macs and Fonts using Quark suck.
He may have to bring the doc file over to his desktop and may have to manually retrieve fonts if they are using network font management.

Also macs not signed into a PC-based server using smb protocol will often corrupt fonts to 0k Unix files.

he reckons he just got the cd and copied the whole cd

how would i get him to make sure he copies the fonts to cd properly so we get them correctly ?
