What does this word say to you? Just want to make sure it's legible.
Thanks...

I really think you're going to have to incoporate a descender on the "q" somehow. On quick read it's an "a" and thus, buggers up the legibility of the subsequent letters.

I would avoid that a /Q like the plague. It has been done to death and has bad publicity associated with it, too:

Here's an article about it:

glad to help.
My best advice on how to approach logo design is here, if you're interested:

How are these? Half way through my original design I started noticing the "Q" looked like a lowercase "a", so I figured I would have to work out a redesign. I like the style so I would like to keep it. Think it's pretty distinguishable that the letter is a "Q" now. Now on to the "U" the person above said the "U" was a "V" anybody agree?

now that i know what it is it could go either way I guess... it just seemed the most logical to me at the time.

Where do I have that "s" from? Just can't remember, but I know I've seen it before in a logo. Some game producer or something?

Given a choice, the one without the descender Q. That one descender is gonna screw up your sign blank and will off balance the logo.
The first of your two new examples is best, Falldown.
PS, I did read the first one you posted as Squint, but that's probably natural for most designers, because of the Quark connectation. Which is also why it's good you ditched it.

I Agree with most things said so far.
I would also choose the upper case Q, But the straight line at the base of the letter doesn't seem right - It would normally be a whole straight line, rather than a fracture that creates a weird counter in the Q. Were you intending to echo the dot on top of the i? If so, it might be best to use a whole circle, for both the top of the i and the shape inside the Q. As a result you'd have to give a rounded end to the stem of the i.
I'm not sure about the T. Those flat ends look uncomfortable. The flat lines in the T and S - and the sharp edges they create - don't sit well for me, but that's probably completely subjective. I'd play with the balance between the flat and rounded shapes. Possibly make the base of the n and the top of the u into flat ends?
I suppose if you follow my advice you'll drift away from a logotype and end up creating a typeface.
Don't listen to me.

I didn't see the first one as squint at all. It was sauint to me.
The T looks uncomfortable because they are too abrupt. See the U and N have round ends? You should give the T a few round ends. See if needs all round ends ur just the arms.

2 more versions... I tried the rounded edges on the T a bit ago, but not too sure if I'm happy with... Personally I like the bottom Q between the two.
input away!

Correct! SCi Games (http://games.sci.co.uk/games/SCi Games)
Funny, a few years ago I came up with an insignia for a superhero character, and it looked really good. I was shocked when I booted up my favourite game to find it was one of the games logos!
I was mad for a bit, but then soon forgave them. How can I be mad at a company that gave me many happy hours playing Carmageddon? lol.
Back onto topic (how absurd?) I kinda the new version of your logo, much easier.

I like the last version too. Only problem I have with it is that the i looks crushed between the U & N, perhaps increase the kerning around the i.

The lower case i is killing this design.
What is the appeal of having a lower case i in an allcaps word? It's so damn popular and it rarely looks good.
I really prefer the final Q and the second last T. Increase the letterspacing and fix the i.
Normally I hate when people upload thier own changes, but I tried it to see so I might as well.

Nice work, good progression.
edit: I think the kerning around the I needs even more space.

thanks mac.FINN I don't mind people doing their own versions... because sometimes you might think something looks good but until you make it you won't know for sure.
Thanks for the suggestions though... I like it, guess the lowercase i does kind of kill it ... separates the word when it doesn't need to be.

Cool. I do this kinda thing all the time. I love messing with letter shapes.
Just curious....would it read without the "i"? With the dotted "u" doing double duty? Looking much better, though.

Had a quick play with that, I found it very hard to read that way.

yeah that would be a good idea... but I can see it being confusing for some... and as soon as you make people think too much you've lost...
thanks for the input
