Good for you, when are you leaving?

Funny thing is that here legal applicants for visas at the US embassy here have to contend with strict terms that include:

- a full physical medical exam at the embassy (wear clean under wear), sometimes they have male doctoprs examine female visa applicants- against cultural norms,
- you pay a non-refundable visa application fee of 8000 Kesh (appr USD150, not cheap by any standards)
- you must produce your bank statement (I thought that was private?)
-produce evidence that you have a strong tie to your home country, say Title deed, property ownership documents.
-women are not allowed in with their handbags (despite the x-ray check point),
-leave your baby at home; if you bring your baby it may not wear diapers,
-you may not show up for the visa application ealier than 30 mins (there is no waiting area),
- despite following all these, you may still be denied a visa, and the reason may range from "You do not meet visa requirement needs" to "We do not give visas to people like you" no further explanation
-.....the list is longer than above.

When American citizens come over here:
- no visa required
- no visa fee
- a valid passport

I've met folks who've missed their children's graduation ceremonies at American Unis while on the visa que, even after three or four appointments for application (For each application, all the above terms described above are repeated).
