My school is having SpringFest (which is basically a gigantic concert) again this year, and as usual they are having a logo design competition. Related topic: I've been trying to figure out a good method for getting rough-looking effects on text. Judging by yours, it looks like a font. Does anybody have any insight into doing this by hand to get a more random look?

That above is a font, but if you were interested in doing this by hand, you could use the rub on zip-a-tone letters, they give beautiful results if you do it sloppily, I'll see if I can scan an example later.

I achieved a similar effect recently by rubbing into the text with a wet finger which brings up some of the paper and makes a bit of a mess around it. Then I scanned it back in and got it looking like the font above by either using threshold or upping the contrast and brightness.

Good idea, thfc. I've also thought about rubbing printed text with sandpaper, or some other abraisive surface. I'll have to try that out and post it.

i think the text is hard to read, but it has a cool effect, it is simple, but it works, i'd like to see the text intergrating more into the sillowwet...however u spell it....hahaha but it looks like its getting there, probably too late already though..post was 3 months ago
