hi. i've just started working for an architect practice and one thing ive got to do is produce some marketing stuff for them. i thought i could use a steel/metal or another type of material for the cover and back. is this an easy thing to do?

thanks in advance.

it's possible... depends what you want to put on it.
i've seen brochures using a thin brushed aluminium cover with the logo laser cut out of it. (i've also seen business cards in the same style) Expect to pay a premium for it though.

hi. i thought it might be expensive.
do you know of any materials i could use that wouldnt be as expensive.. anything apart from paper/card to make it stand out? cheers.

depending on how many you need to produce, generally card/paper will be your best compromise between cost and something different. there are so many different types of stock out there these days.
i always find a matt laminate works well
or something heavy with a spot uv varnish to highlight certain elements
sometimes i find that using something vastly different to print on is a bit of an expensive gimmick... i prefer to let the artwork catch the attention first.

have a word with your printer and see what they can offer.. they might be able to surprise you with something you've not thought of?

or if you're doing a very short run, you could get creative and hand make the covers out of some cut metal/plastic sheeting from a hardware store and some stickers/spraypaint or something?

:D

That site was cool PD, pretty expensive at low quantities. I wish they had higher quantity pricing without having to call.

They send stuff to Mars. I don't think England is a problem.

A guy from this company came into work today to show off his business cards. They print on plastic (thick so you can't fold it). They look stunning. His business card had a stained glass window on it which was transparent in parts and opaque all around window where the text was printed. STUNNING!
