anyone else think that the google image search had gone all rubbish lately?
for example i searched for "broken egg" as i needed a large picture of ... a broken egg. i got ONE picture of an egg... and 80 random pictures of anything and everything unconnected with eggs or broken-ness including: cartoon strips, a desperate housewives desktop, a japanese bloke's keyring, some odd looking kids and this guy

Did you try cracked egg? Google is like any tool you have to know how to use it properly.

I totally agree Captain. I dont have kids yet, but when I do, Im not sure I will even let them use the image search. I typed in...... well I cant remember now, but it was totally harmless, and I got a little this - a little that, a little porn - and a cat in a hat.

mynock... sure i know to search with different terms... but my point was that i just got a load of random stuff rather than owt useful... i mean come on, there's millions of web pages in the world and there's only one who referenced an actual broken egg. how come some nekkid drawing of a woman appears for 'broken egg'? odd odd odd.

What I'm saying is "cracked egg" returns more of what you want. It's not on google, but how you're searching or what you are searching.

Not to disagree with you Mynock because it's true, you have to fiddle with search terms to get closer to what you want, but this is what I got when I searched broken egg (http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=broken%20egg&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi)

I think Google also remembers other searches and builds preferences or something, which is why I can have completely different results from one computer to the next on the same search term.

I got the same thing Urst got, so I wasn't sure what spanky was talking about, because that seemed like alot of pictures of broken eggs to me.

Though I have had the experience that spanky is mentioning. And the experience that cnic mentions, random porn in a search for what should be innocent phrases.

I have some friends that work for google, and they have this big board up that shows in real-time what people are searching for. I wonder if they filter that, because I'm sure otherwise they'll get some pretty funky phrases up there that are less than acceptable for the work place. So next time you type a phrase into google's search engine, just think, it could be appearing in giant letters in google's lobby.

Is this for comps, where you'd prefer to have no watermark visible but aren't intending to use the image you got from Google? You can register at Getty images and get comp images without watermarks.
