Ok, I normally design for print, and all my settings are fine for that. But I have recently designed some web graphics...They are in RGB mode, and look fine in photoshop. When I save-for-web the colors shift and are brighter and more saturated than I want.
I have a mac, what color profile should I have my monitor set to, and what RGB profile should I set my web graphics to? I want my colors to be close on a pc or mac, Thanks!
EDIT: I currently have my monitor set to "Adobe RGB 1998" profile, and my document setting was "sRGB ICblah blah" which might be why it looks different when I save-for-web. When I change my document profile to "Adobe RGB 1998" it looks fine when I save-for-web. Now will this look ok on other computers?

If you post the image you are struggling with I can take a look in multiple browsers on a CRT and my powerbook. I have no idea what color profiles they are set to, but I don't typically see a noticable difference in color between browsers, just between monitors.

You should actually be working in sRGB for web graphics, as that's the default that the majority of browsers use.
This article does a really good job of explaining why: Web Color (http://www.creativepro.com/story/howto/24697.html?cprose=8-12).

When I went home over the weekend, I checked out the file on my PC and it looked fine in both photoshop and during a Save-For-Web using the "Adobe RGB" profile. My monitor is not using the "Adobe RGB" or the "sRGB..." profile, but is using a profile that came with the monitor. I'm going to test it on some PC's here at work though.
What profile should my mac monitor be set at? The article doesn't really mention that.

Here's the thing, when you do a Save for Web (out of Photoshop), it automatically converts it to sRGB, and presumes that there will be no embedded profile. However, the way your monitor views sRGB and the way different programs view sRGB are two entirely different matters. Yeah, it sucks, but that's the way it goes. For example, Safari will obey embedded profiles, including allowing the viewing of CMYK images, but many browsers don't, and different platforms view color differently, so you should always keep that in mind when previewing your work for the web.
So your Color Settings in Photoshop for RGB (when working on web stuff), should be set for sRGB. That's what the article is trying to get you to do.
In addition, if you preview your work, I've found it best to bypass Monitor RGB, which will look entirely different from Windows RGB or Mac RGB. Your monitor will display sRGB entirely differently than Windows RGB or Mac RGB will. That's been my experience. And Windows way of handling sRGB is generally much darker than Mac's way of handling it, so it's a good idea to preview it in both platform spaces.
I'm just beginning to understand some of this stuff myself, so if I'm wrong about my speculations here, hopefully someone with more experience will come along and correct me. But that article was very instructive to me in terms of previewing web work.
