I have a question regarding my current project for my inhouse design for another department for my company.

I am converting about two dozen forums (misc. pages w/ tables or just lots of text)--no real graphics except colored boxes.

I'm getting the content from their Word (some Publisher) documents. I'm copying and pasting the text into InDesign pages and using styles to change it and format it so every page is universally similiar.

However, they want these back in an editable fashion (i.e. Word or Publisher) so they can make changes down the road if needbe and bypass the need to bother me again.

Is there any way to keep the formatting but save it for a Word or Publisher format? How would you all do this without resorting to doing the whole project in MS Publisher and not InDesign.

Basically, you can't.

Word and Indesign are completely different sorts of program. It's a bit like asking how to play Freecell in Photoshop.

Publisher is a similar sort of program to Indesign, in a serious head-trauma sort of a way, but it's barely even capable of sharing documents with other versions of Publisher, let alone with Indesign.

So you get to make 'em in Word, or they ask you for the changes, I'd say.

If they have Acrobat you can give them a pdf that they can make changes on.

Yes and no.

They can make some types of changes. Inevitably, these will turn out not to be the ones they wanted to make.

Lol! True, very true.

Now, what we really need is a program that will allow clients to make changes to more than just text while still giving designers the ablity to disable the starburst function.
