Hy Guys N Gals!

Sorry I'm new to this forum and relatively new to graphics as well so be gently. I apologise if this thread isn't a new subject.

I'm working in Adobe CS2 using illustrator for logos and such, photoshop for photos and inDesign to bring everything together. My question is what is the best way to export a vector graphic from illustrator and import into InDesign as there are so many options? I'm having problems at the moment bringing in graphics that shouldn't have resolution problems but seem to be pixilating all the same.

Also I'm guessing psd files are the best option importing from Photoshop?

Cheers
Tim

illustrator for logos and such, photoshop for photos and inDesign to bring everything together.

This is an excellent start. You've been taught well, or have a logical mind, both will serve you well in this business.

From Illustrator to InDesign I usually go .ai these days. They look a little ropey in preview mode but you can right click on them (Ctrl +click on a Mac) and choose Preview Resolution >Full (could be called high, it's obvious when you see it).

From PhotoShop to InDesign .psd is fine for most things but I must admit that I'm still stuck in my old favourite of saving as a flattened .tif this file type has never done me wrong.

If you're still getting a pixelated print all I can suggest is to check your print settings as with vectored artwork from Illustrator this shoud not be happening.

The conservaive option is eps from illustrator and flattened tif from photoshop. If you have any doubts, go with those.

For the most part, though, these days you're pretty safe placing ai's and psd's into Indesign.

That was it...I was looking in preview mode.
